Mitch Bratton for Sheriff 2023-Putting People First

Mitch Bratton for Sheriff 2023-Putting People First I have been in law enforcement in Caldwell Parish for over 23 years, having served since 2003 as the Chief of Police for the Village of Grayson.

I have been active on the Attorney Generals task force for Internet Crimes Against Children, as well as a member of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police. I have served as president of the North Chiefs Association, as well as President of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police. I believe our sheriff's department needs to put the citizens first. Before egos, before politics, and before any selfish need for power. We were all created equal, and that doesn't change with time.

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning! Today is the last day of early voting, and we appreciate everyone’s support!
The calls and messages from folks that have went and supported us this week has been humbling.
My supporters have hung in there, and have endured attacks against themselves and their families that no one should deal with for voicing their opinions.
Take notice, in all the things said about me, they have never said that I haven’t taken care of the people, that I haven’t handled people’s problems correctly and fairly, or that I have ever brutally beaten a subject over misdemeanors.

I have kept our campaign positive, and as we enter the final week, will continue to do the same. However, I will be sharing some public records next week, and allow the public to make some decisions on their own. We have gained ground in recent weeks, and picked up support from several community leaders that were previously undecided. Now is not the time to let up, and I am looking forward to getting back to putting people first!

Good luck to the Caldwell Spartans as they travel to Bunkie tonight! See y’all at the game!

The primary job of the Sheriff, and his staff, is to keep the citizen's safe.
When I am elected as your sheriff, I will have adequate officers at all community events, especially school events, to maintain order and keep everyone safe.
The first official action that I will take as Sheriff will be to cut my own salary to hire two additional school resource officers. Currently, we have one SRO, and one DARE officer. We have ten schools in our parish, including the 3 private schools, and we also have home school groups that sponsor activities. One SRO isn't enough. I think protecting our kids is much more important than my paycheck.

If elected as your sheriff, I will take office July 1, 2024. That is the day that we start to, once again, put people first.

Early voting is still going on tomorrow, make your voice heard.

🚔 Community First: Keeping You Informed 🚔

As I run for Sheriff, one of my top priorities is ensuring transparency and communication between CPSO and our community. In today's fast-paced world, misinformation can spread like wildfire, leading to unnecessary fear and confusion. That's why, as your potential Sheriff, I am committed to keeping you informed of incidents that occur in our community.

Here's how I plan to do it:

✅ Timely Updates: When incidents happen, you can count on me and my office to provide you with accurate and timely information. We understand that you want to know what's happening in your community, and we're here to keep you in the loop.

✅ Preventing Rumors: Rumors can be harmful and create unnecessary panic. By sharing official information, we can prevent the spread of rumors and ensure that you have the facts you need to stay safe and informed.

✅ Transparency: I believe in openness. You have the right to know how your community is being served and protected.

✅ Community Engagement: Your input matters. I'll actively seek your feedback and suggestions on how we can better serve you. Together, we can build a safer and stronger Caldwell Parish. I will institute a Community Advisory Board, with members from every area of our parish, that will review critical incidents involving CPSO.

Our community's safety and well-being are at the heart of everything I do. By keeping you informed, we can work together to prevent incidents, respond effectively when needed, and build trust between law enforcement and our community.

Your support means the world to me, and I'm excited about the positive changes we can bring to Caldwell Parish together. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out. Let's make our community safer, more informed, and even more united.

Share to get the word out! Feel free to tell why you are voting Bratton for Sheriff!

This week is early voting. Any voters may participate in early voting by going to the Caldwell Court House, in the Registrar of Voters office. You also still have time to request a mail in ballot if you are out of town.
Those that want to keep control will be making sure to get their votes out, so we have to do the same. Every vote will count! If you need a ride to early vote, or to vote on Oct 14, let us know! We have several volunteers that have offered to help get people to the polls so that their voices can be heard. With every attack, with everytime they have called me, or my supporters "pathetic", we have only gotten stronger. Let's put the bullies back in the dark, and show them that everyone's opinion matters!

Best supporters ever!

So...semi humorous story. I was told today, by two people, that they had heard that I had dropped out of the race and was out picking up my campaign signs. Obviously, not true, as I spent today going door to door, and have a couple more 4x4 signs to put in yards tomorrow.
While talking to Christy tonight about the rumor, I believe that she may have found the source.
Earlier this week, we had more requests for yard signs than I had signs left. Signs are expensive, and I have already ordered, and put out, more than I had planned. So, we noticed some signs on common areas around town, probably 4-5 of them, and we stopped to pick them up so they could go to a supporter. Everytime Christy hopped out of the truck to get a sign, there would be traffic coming from every direction, so no telling how many people saw her stealing my signs. 🤣
So, if you saw us picking up signs in Clarks and Grayson this week, we weren't throwing in the towel, we were trying to accomodate the support that seems to grow every day.

I appreciate everyone that is supporting us, and those that reach out to check on us frequently. Watch this page over the next few days for more of my plans for when I am your sheriff, and keep an eye on next week's local papers.

Feel free to share this, everyone needs to know that I am in this for the long haul, and your vote for me will not be wasted! -Mitch
