If you fall into cold water, every minute matters. Wearing a life jacket and using the HELP (Heat Escape Lessoning Posture) and Huddle positions protect critical body areas and can slow down loss of heat. Increasing your survival time in cold water. When safety isn’t nearby these positions can retain body heat giving you more time to be rescued.

Lincoln’s childhood friend, Austin Gollaher claimed that while playing they attempted to cross K**b Creek when Lincoln fell into the water over his head. Just a friendly reminder even with Old Man Winter finally making his appearance here at Grayson Lake we just wanted to leave you with this quick fact. No body of water covered in ice is considered safe to walk on, skate on, or fish. While it may have gotten cold here in Northern Kentucky, it simply doesn’t get cold enough for long enough to reliably freeze bodies of water. Ice thickness—particularly at our temperatures and elevation and the fluctuation of water levels in the lake—is inconsistent and unstable. Please make sure to keep yourself and your pets off the ice, because while it may look safe, it's not.
