Last week we celebrated another successful Field Day here at GES where students got to spend extra time outside on the playground competing in a few different events and enjoying some special activities. We want to give a big thanks to the GHS students who came and spent their day running stations, the GES PTO for providing snow cones for all of our students and Millikin Portables for providing sanitation equipment to keep our kiddos OUTSIDE and playing the whole time.

We also want to give a big shout-out to our grade-level winners of the class v. class Tug-of-War contests: 4th Grade Mrs. Ranville's class, 3rd Grade Ms. Tedford's class, 2nd Grade Ms. Baerlocher's class, 1st Grade Mrs. Cobb's Cool Cats, and Kindergarten Mrs. Vincent's class. We can't wait until next year when we get to do it all again.

Here are a few pictures from the day and the album can be viewed at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QwrL3uzxdbWPzqV_egROe0GEWj1D0xbG?usp=sharing

The safety patrols had a wonderful time celebrating a successful year of helping to keep our school campus safe! We would also like to thank the staff at the Sportsplex for making this such an exciting and memorable trip for our students!

Mrs. Kososky's class practiced belly breathing using bubbles! As they slowly blew the bubbles, they focused on calming their bodies. Then, they had fun popping them—imagining they were their “unhelpful thoughts” floating away. A simple, playful way to build mindfulness and support SEL skills!

In our Kindergarten STEM lesson, we explored how clouds form and how rain happens by making a “cloud in a jar.” We filled a clear jar with water, added a layer of shaving cream on top to act like a cloud, and then slowly dropped colored water onto the “cloud.”

As the shaving cream cloud filled up, the colored water began to fall through—just like rain! This helped students see that when real clouds get too full of water droplets, they release the water as rain. It was a fun, hands-on way to understand weather in action.
