Labor Day Closure 🇺🇸

🗒️ BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT / OVERVIEW:
There is a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall potentially leading to localized flash flooding across North Georgia and portions of Central Georgia Thursday into Friday.

📌 WHAT:
A cold front will push into the area and stall near the I-20 and I-85 corridors on Thursday. The combination of the stalled front and lots of moisture in the atmosphere will create favorable conditions for heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding.
Isolated rainfall totals up to 4 inches will be possible, supporting the potential for flash flooding. Where exactly these maximums in rainfall occur is still uncertain, however.

🗺️ WHERE & WHEN:
North Georgia and parts of Central Georgia Thursday into Friday.

⛈️ IMPACTS:
Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms may result in localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying, poor drainage, and/or urban areas.
Heavy rainfall may cause reductions in visibility, making travel hazardous. Additionally, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty winds could make outdoor activities hazardous.

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, with highest chances in Central and Eastern Georgia. Any strong to severe thunderstorms will be capable of damaging wind gusts which could down trees or powerlines. Frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall will also be possible with any storms that develop.

⛈️ Keep an eye on the weather later today!
A few rounds of storms may develop across north and central Georgia from this afternoon through the overnight hours.
Some storms may become severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts, small hail frequent lightning, and heavy rain.
