Day 1 of Jones County Law Enforcement Foundation Summer Camp is officially in the books! Jailer Christopher Stewart suited up in the “red man” gear and let our campers put him through his paces during defensive tactics training. Safe to say… he took a beating for a great cause.

After all that hard work (and getting thoroughly “appreciated” by the kids), he definitely earned this ice cream. 🍦😅

Big thanks to our staff for making day one such a success… we’re just getting started!

We couldn’t do it without our amazing community! First day of camp is a wrap 🤪

🌧️🚧 With all the rain we've experienced recently, it's only a matter of time before a tree or two decides to fall across one of our roadways.

Fortunately, Lieutenant Hart and his inmate work detail crew are always ready to answer the call! Equipped with "The Hart-Breaker"—Lt. Hart's trusty truck loaded with chainsaws, tools, and everything needed to clear the way—they stand ready to help keep Jones County moving safely.

If you see a tree down in your area, please give the Jones County Sheriff's Office a call at 478-986-3489 so we can respond and get it taken care of as quickly as possible.

A special thank you to Lt. Hart and his crew for their hard work and dedication. Whether it's assisting our Public Works Department, responding to storm-related issues, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, their commitment to serving our community does not go unnoticed.

Stay safe, Jones County, and remember—when the trees fall, "The Hart-Breaker" rolls! 🌳💪🚚

After decades of dedicated service, two outstanding leaders are closing an incredible chapter in their law enforcement careers. Today, we honor the retirements of Captain Kenny Allen and Lt. Gerry Nelson and thank them for the impact they’ve made on the Jones County community, this agency, and everyone who has had the privilege to serve alongside them.

Captain Kenny Allen began his law enforcement career with Warner Robins Police Department before joining the Jones County Sheriff’s Office on May 24, 2001. Throughout his career, he served in Patrol, the Jail Division, and ultimately became a respected leader in Investigations. Captain Allen specialized in accident reconstruction investigations, became a CVSA examiner, attended the National Forensic Academy, and built a reputation for his knowledge, leadership, and steady presence. His years of experience and commitment to justice have left a lasting mark on this agency and the citizens of Jones County.

Outside of work, Captain Allen enjoys spending time with his wife, son, grandchild, and preparing to welcome another grandbaby soon. One thing he definitely does *not* enjoy? Facebook... which makes this retirement post even more special.

Lt. Gerry Nelson began his career with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office on October 17, 2001, bringing with him a servant’s mindset and a commitment to helping others. Before entering law enforcement, he served as a firefighter and continued maintaining his EMT certification throughout his career. Over the past 26 years in public service, Lt. Nelson has served in Patrol, the Drug Unit, as CERT Commander, and represented Jones County on the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. Whether responding to emergencies, leading specialized operations, or mentoring younger deputies, Lt. Nelson has always answered the call with professionalism and dedication.

When he’s not serving others, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, hunting, and relaxing at the beach... just not hunting at the beach.

To Lt. Nelson and Captain Allen: thank you for your years of sacrifice, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the people of Jones County. Your service has made a difference, and your legacy will continue long after retirement. We wish you both many years of happiness, relaxation, and well-earned time with family.

Congratulations on your retirement, gentlemen. You’ve earned it.
