The Office of the Superior Court Clerk was created by the State Constitution of Georgia in the early 1800’s and remains an elected position. When the Constitution was drafted, the early founders recognized the need for a county officer to be the custodian of important documents and to manage the business of the Superior Court in each county. Then, as now, the Clerk performs statutory duties incl

uding but not limited to summoning of jurors and serving as custodian of important documents such as deeds to property and court orders. The office of the Clerk of Superior Court houses three divisions: Judicial (Civil and Criminal Records), Real Estate (Real and personal properties), and Business/Administrative.
