National Trail Fire Department

Wednesday night our crews responded to reports of a barn fire. This facility, known by crews is a local dairy farm with multiple close buildings. Upon arrival of Engine 831, a tractor inside the barn had caught fire, totaling the tractor and extending into the roof overhead. Owners did an excellent job extinguishing the majority of the tractor fire. Crews came in to help cleanup the remaining hotspots within the roof, help remove the tractor from the building and ensure it's a safe place to rest for the night to the cattle inside. Along with the duty crew we had 7 volunteers respond. Cant thank everyone enough for their help!

Today's the day!!! See everyone at the church, please remember to arrive early as the hunt starts at 11am SHARP! With last night's rain, be advised the grounds are quite wet, wouldn't hurt to let the kiddos break out those cute spring rain boots!

Set up is almost complete. Looks like over 1700 eggs! Come out and join us, egg hunt starts at 11am SHARP! Please bring a bucket to fill, and just a heads up- the grassy area is still wet for the older kiddos (hopefully it dries out some by then). See you there!

For this months training we hosted The Energy Cooperative with their Arc Demo trailer. Crews came out to demonstrate multiple scenarios involving power lines, underground utilities and the hazards faced when dealing with such events. Downed power lines are an issue crews deal with frequently and are one of the most dangerous. Thank you to all departments and townships who came out to join us and of course big thanks to The Energy Cooperative for everything!

Due to the crazy weather we've been having, the Energy Co-Op training has been rescheduled. Crews are out working diligently to restore power!

Yesterdays duty crew, along with 7 volunteers responded to 10 calls in the last 24 hours. Multiple lines down, one resulting in a large woods fire, one medical call, trees into home and one MVA on I-70 with a amazing outcome. Yesterdays wind storm had both Muskingum and licking counties resources stretched to their limits and the teamwork shown between mutual aid departments was one for textbooks. Thank you to all departments who assisted.

The large woods fire along RT 40 had very limited access. 2 wet and muddy wooded paths were the only way up a large hill, making the use of UTVs crucial.

The MVA along I-70 is something you can only imagine. Blown by wind, this vehicle went off the roadway, through multiple guardrail posts, before coming to a stop with the guardrail itself impaling the vehicle through the drive side, ripping the steering wheel off into the passenger side floor. The vehicle was on fire upon our arrival. The patient though, was out and walking around with non-life threatening injuries!
