Grassflat Volunteer Fire Company

Today as crews were returning from Karthaus Vol. Fire Co. 's parade Grassflat Volunteer Fire Company was alerted by Clearfield County Department of Public Safety to assist BJW Volunteer Fire Company with a large mulch fire. Engine tanker 19 responded to Metzler Forest Products. After arriving on scene Engine Tanker 19 was directed to the dump site and assisted in the water shuttle operations along with multiple other mutual aid tankers. After dumping water at the dump site Engine Tanker 19 was directed to the Lock Haven Campus where Jefferson County Sykesville Fire Department Squad 8 established a secondary fill site. During tanker shuttle operations Engine Tanker 19 delivered 4,500 gals to the dump site.
The tanker shuttle supplied a large amount of water to Clearfield Fire Dept. Quint 1 who had master stream operations in progress while Metzler utilized heavy equipment on site to dig through the material to extinguish the mulch pile.

Shortly after 2200 hrs Clearfield County Department of Public Safety alerted Grassflat Volunteer Fire Company to assist Winburne Fire Company Number One with a vehicle fire on the west bound off ramp of Interstate 80 and Kylertown Drifting HWY. Initial reports at the time of the call was a fully engulfed pickup on the roadway. Engine Tanker 19 arrived on scene behind Engine Tanker 18. Engine Tanker 19 placed a supply line in service to support the attack line deployed from Engine Tanker 18. Morris Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 was requested for the closure of the ramp while the fire was being extinguished. The Ramp was closed for a short period of time and reopened after the vehicle was removed.
