[Wed 4/1] A broken line of storms will move in from the west this evening and overnight, with a threat mainly for large hail & damaging winds near and west of I-35. There is a lower tornado and flooding threat with this activity. Storms will weaken as they shift east and exit early Thursday AM.

Today’s scheduled Outdoor Warning Siren (OWS) Test has been postponed due to tomorrow’s Statewide Emergency Notification Exercise.

✅ Weather permitting, the OWS test will instead take place tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. as part of the statewide exercise.

The City of Grapevine will participate in a statewide emergency notification exercise coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management on Thursday, April 2, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

During this time, Grapevine will:

About the Exercise:
The April 2 drill is part of a statewide test of public warning systems designed to evaluate the effectiveness, reliability, and coordination of emergency alerting tools used across Texas. The exercise allows local governments to test their primary and backup notification systems, identify gaps, and ensure alerts can be delivered quickly and accurately during real emergencies. Residents across the state may receive multiple test alerts from different agencies during the testing window.

📢 Weather Alert for Today & Saturday

North Texas may see strong thunderstorms later today and again on Saturday.

Here’s what to know:
• We’re quiet this morning, but storms could develop this afternoon and evening.
• Not everyone will see storms today, but any storm that does form could be severe.
• Possible hazards include large hail, strong winds, and a low chance of a tornado.
• Another round of storms is likely late tonight into Saturday as a cold front comes in.
• On Saturday, some storms could be severe again, and heavy rain may cause flooding in a few areas.

What you should do:
• Keep an eye on the weather today and tomorrow.
• Make sure your phone is charged and weather alerts are turned on.
• If you’re traveling, never drive through flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown.
• Have a plan to move indoors quickly if storms approach.

🌩️ Weather Update – Conditional Severe Storm Potential Today 🌩️

I have analyzed today’s atmospheric conditions to assess the potential for severe storms in our area.

What we know:
The atmosphere can support thunderstorms
A few storms could become strong, producing hail and gusty winds
Winds aloft may allow storms to briefly organize

What this means for Grapevine:
Widespread severe weather is not expected
However, severe storms can never be ruled out, especially on a localized scale
Impacts, if they occur, may be isolated and brief, but could still cause damage

🌪️ Tornado threat: Low, but not zero
🌨️ Hail: Possible in stronger storms
💨 Strong wind gusts: Possible with isolated storms

👉 Bottom line:
Most areas will not experience severe weather, but a small number of storms could still become severe. Everyone should remain weather‑aware and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.

Hey y'all. A quarter to a half an inch of ice may not seem like much. But to trees and power lines it is! That's a lot of water weight stuck to those branches and lines. When you add the gusting winds that we are expecting, things begin to get serious. Please have a plan and make any last minute preparation necessary to pe prepared for the next few days!
