Granville Police Department

Granville Police Department GPD officers believe that commitment, respect and integrity are essential values in maintaining a positive image and relationship with Granville community.

An effective police department is the most important asset a community possesses to make it a safe and desirable place for citizens to live, work, and raise a family. So much of what a police department does relies heavily on the cooperation of the citizens, who the officers are sworn to protect and serve. In order for officers to properly do their job, they must establish a certain rapport with t

he community. This relationship is incredibly delicate and is based almost entirely on the community’s perception of the department. The Granville Police department understands the importance of a positive relationship and is committed to establishing this relationship between the officers and the citizens.

Congratulations to the West Virginia Mountaineers Baseball team on advancing to the NCAA Super Regional!

Officers from the Granville Police Department will be assisting throughout the weekend to help manage traffic and keep attendees safe. Also we would also like to recognize the outstanding work performed by University Police and Ruby Security during last weekend's regional games and know the trend will continue. We encourage fans to plan ahead, expect increased traffic, and follow directions from event staff and law enforcement personnel.

We would also like to remind visitors that while the WVU Hospital area is a popular vantage point for watching the games, parking in hospital lots is intended first and foremost for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. Additionally, where parking or viewing is permitted, alcohol consumption is prohibited. Please be respectful of hospital operations and those seeking medical care.

Good luck to the Mountaineers as they continue their journey toward Omaha. We look forward to a great weekend of baseball in Granville!

Today, parts of our team completed their annual fitness events before the rain came.

As part of our wellness and performance program, officers voluntarily participate in a series of fitness events once each year. Officers who successfully complete the events at or above the required standards earn an additional two vacation days annually.

We’re proud of the dedication, discipline, and commitment our officers continue to demonstrate — both on duty and in maintaining the physical readiness needed to serve our community.
