Press Release:

On Wednesday, May 13th, the City of Grants Police Department received a request for assistance from the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) Fugitive Apprehension Unit to locate individuals with outstanding arrest warrants.

The on-duty patrol staff assisted the NMCD Fugitive Apprehension Unit at the residence located at 602 E. Sargent Street, where several individuals were located. Following identification, Brandi Rodriguez and Irene Cordova were taken into custody due to outstanding warrants for their arrest. Brandi Rodriguez was arrested and served with a warrant issued by the Cibola County Magistrate Court, while Irene Cordova was arrested and served with a bench warrant from the Eleventh Judicial District Court.

Both individuals were subsequently booked into the Core Civic Correction Center without incident. The City of Grants Police Department extends its gratitude to the NMCD for their collaboration and anticipates continued partnership.

National Police Week 2026

Since its inception in 1962, when then-President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726, National Police Week typically occurs during the week surrounding May 15th, which has been designated as Peace Officer Memorial Day. Law enforcement agencies nationwide celebrate National Police Week as a time to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to recognize the brave men and women who continue to serve their communities.

This year, the City of Grants Police Department will be hosting our annual Peace Officer Memorial Day service and inspection in recognition of National Police Week. This time-honored tradition includes a uniform, equipment, and vehicle inspection, followed by a memorial service. This annual event serves as a means for the City of Grants Police Department to not only recognize current law enforcement officers but also to remember those who have paved the way for the present.

We would like to remind the public of our annual memorial service, which will be held at the Grants High School Performance Arts building on Friday, May 15th, at 9:00 AM.

Press Release:

On April 16th, on-duty Patrol Officers were alerted through the Flock Safety License Plate Reader system that a stolen motor vehicle had entered the City of Grants.

After confirming the vehicle was listed as stolen through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), officers began checking the vehicle’s last known location. Within a short time, the vehicle was located in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant, where officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop.

All occupants were safely removed from the vehicle and detained while officers carried out an on-scene investigation.

During the investigation, it was determined that one occupant had an active felony warrant out of McKinley County Magistrate Court. A separate occupant was taken into custody, and a search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of two types of controlled substances.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

Donahue Dosedo
• McKinley County Magistrate Court Arrest Warrant
(Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Larceny, Criminal Damage to Property, Tampering with Evidence, and Burglary of a Dwelling)

Olivia Pinto
• Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Vehicle
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
