Grant Public Schools This is the official page of Grant Public Schools. GPS is a K-12 district serving 1800 students Elementary containing second through fourth grade.

Grant Public School District, as it operates today, was founded in the early 1900s to serve the students of Grant and the surrounding townships “one room” school houses. The district is in the southeast section of Newaygo County covering approximately 113 square miles. The lay of the land has rolling hills that house orchards, low lands consisting of muck fields, open fields for farming and forest

areas. The City of Grant, is found in the center of the district. Grant Public Schools has four educationally focused buildings consisting of a:
Primary Center, which houses preschool through first grade. Middle School where fifth grade through eighth grade are located. High School, serving ninth grade through twelfth grade. The district also has a Fine Arts Center with the capacity to hold a wide range of performances, with a seating capacity 790. This building serves our band, choir and theater programs extremely well throughout the year. Much of the athletic complex is on the grounds of the middle school, which includes the football, soccer, baseball and softball fields, as well as the track and cross country course. The competition gym for volleyball and basketball is also connected to the middle school. In addition, the high school hosts wrestling events as well as having eight tennis courts for students and the community. With a quality staff, Grant Public Schools, will continue to

📣 On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, voters will consider a non-homestead operating millage renewal for Grant Public Schools.

Key things to know:
➜ This is a renewal, not a new tax.
➜ The millage does not apply to a homeowner’s primary residence.
➜ It applies only to non-homestead properties, such as commercial properties, industrial properties, rental/income properties, second homes, and some vacant land.
➜ The proposal would renew the existing operating millage for four years, from 2027 through 2030.

Operating millage funds support day-to-day school operations, including:
⭐ Utilities and building operations
⭐ Classroom materials
⭐ Student supports
⭐ Transportation
⭐ Staffing
⭐ Safe, functional learning environments

🗳️ Voting Information:
➜ Election Day: Tuesday, August 4, 2026
➜ Polls open on Election Day: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
➜ Absentee ballots expected to be available beginning: Thursday, June 25, 2026
➜ Early in-person voting expected: Saturday, July 25 through Sunday, August 2, 2026

A Farewell Note:
Grant Primary Center has always been more than a school—it has been the very first stop on a Grant Tiger's journey.

Within these walls, kindergartners experienced a year filled with firsts: first spring concerts, first books read independently, counting to 100 for the first time, and making those very first school friends. Some of those friendships would last far beyond kindergarten—some even a lifetime.

In first grade, the adventures continued. Students discovered new books and special trips to the library, proudly reading in the library window. They earned driver's licenses in Scooter City, spun endlessly on the tire swings, and became part of the beginning of our Dual Immersion program. They learned to share, to take turns, and to grow together. They looked forward to chicken nugget day in the cafeteria. And yes, there were even the occasional fire drills when a curious preschool friend wondered what would happen if they pulled the little lever labeled "PULL."

Today, the GPS staff gathered in the Primary Center cafeteria for lunch together one last time. There was laughter, celebration, storytelling, and even a few tears.

As I looked around the room, watching colleagues smile, reminisce, and enjoy one another's company, it dawned on me that new friendships were being formed right there in the same place where it all begins for our students.

As we close Grant Primary Center and our district realigns, there is excitement for what lies ahead—new classrooms to move into, new faces to get to know, new colleagues to work alongside, and new opportunities for all of us to continue learning and growing.

Thank you, Grant Primary Center, for the memories, the milestones, and the countless beginnings. We are grateful for every year spent within your walls.

We look forward to the new memories and friendships that await us, but we will never forget where so many of them started.
