Smoke detectors save lives! Alabama has one of the highest fire death rates in the country. This is primarily because there are no smoke detectors in many residential structures that catch on fire and the occupants are overcome by smoke before they can reach an exit. Smoke detectors give an early warning that allows enough time to escape the building. Grant Fire and Rescue is participating in a program to install smoke detectors in houses for free to reduce fire deaths in our community. If your residence doesn't have smoke detectors, send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] with your name, address and phone number so that we can contact you and make an appointment to install smoke detectors in your home. You can also call 256-728-2007 and leave your contact information so we can call you back and make an appointment. Again, the smoke detectors are free. There is no cost to you. All you have to do is let us know that you need smoke detectors.

Hello friends and neighbors! Grant Fire and Rescue is participating in giving out and installing free fire alarms.

To give you some statistics on fire alarms, while 4% of homes do not have smoke alarms, approximately 20% of homes with smoke alarms have non-operational smoke alarms. It is estimated that if every home had working smoke alarms, U.S. residential fire deaths could drop by 36%.

With this being said along with me and all members of Grant Fire and Rescue we strongly encourage our community to reach out to us. We would be happy to help with getting our community 1 step closer to a safer household. Please feel free to message me or any of our members with questions on getting the process started.

Again these alarms are free to you no cost for installation either!!
