The slide has been cleared as of this morning however the straight stretch still has debris and the road gave way on the edge. Use caution
*****************************************************

After all the rain fall this evening please use caution when approaching Toothman run, there was a small mudslide blocking part of a lane that doh hasnโ€™t been able to clear yet. There are cones in the road.

Down on the straight stretch after Toothman the run off washed part of the road away on the creek side. Cones have been placed around it as well.

Following the completion of our in-service training on the new equipment procured through an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), our team successfully installed and made operational these units on the truck. After a prolonged delay due to government shutdowns, this milestone marks a significant achievement. The regional grant facilitated assistance to a total of five departments, enabling them to replace outdated equipment and enhance firefighter safety. The total cost for replacing this equipment was $944,000. We extend our gratitude to Johnson's Fire Equipment for their role in facilitating this transaction. The departments benefiting from this grant include Fairview Volunteer Fire Dept, Wadestown Volunteer Fire Department Co.22, Blacksville Volunteer Fire Dept., and Baxter VFD Co.2. We also cannot forget our awesome grant writer who made all of this completely possible Henderson Grant Consulting (Daniel D Henderson), without his expertise we wouldnโ€™t have had the opportunity.

๐Ÿšจ Tornado Watch in Effect Until 8:00 PM Today ๐Ÿšจ

The Grant Town Volunteer Fire Department would like to notify residents that a Tornado Watch is in effect until 8:00 PM today. A watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe storms in our area. While a tornado has not been confirmed, it is important to remain alert and prepared in case conditions worsen.

โš ๏ธ Please stay weather aware throughout the evening.

Safety Tips to Stay Prepared During a Tornado Watch:

๐ŸŒช Have a Plan Ready
- Identify the safest place in your home, such as a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor.
- Make sure everyone in your household knows where to go if a warning is issued.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Monitor Weather Updates
- Keep your phone nearby and enable emergency weather alerts.
- Follow trusted weather sources and local emergency services for updates.

๐ŸŽ’ Prepare an Emergency Kit
- Include items such as flashlights, batteries, water, medications, and important documents.

๐Ÿš— Stay Alert If Traveling
- Be aware of changing weather conditions and know where safe shelter locations may be.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ Our crews are monitoring the weather and are ready to respond if needed. If a Tornado Warning is issued later, be prepared to seek shelter immediately.

Please stay alert, keep an eye on the weather, and help keep emergency lines clear unless you have a true emergency.

๐ŸŒช๏ธ Tornado Watch in Effect Until 8:00 PM

A Tornado Watch has been issued for our area and is in effect until 8:00 PM today. This means that weather conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe storms to develop. A watch does not mean a tornado is happening yet, but it means we should stay alert and be ready to act quickly if warnings are issued.

โš ๏ธ Tornado Watch vs. Tornado Warning
โ€ข Watch: Conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form. Stay alert and monitor the weather.
โ€ข Warning: A tornado has been sighted or detected on radar. Take shelter immediately.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Tornado Safety Tips
โ€ข Go to the lowest level of your home (basement if possible).
โ€ข If no basement, go to an interior room or hallway on the lowest floor away from windows.
โ€ข Avoid windows, doors, and outside walls.
โ€ข Protect your head and neck with a mattress, blanket, or helmet if available.
โ€ข Keep shoes, phone, and a flashlight nearby.
โ€ข Have weather alerts enabled on your phone or a weather radio.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Stay Informed
Continue monitoring local weather updates and alerts throughout the afternoon and evening. Conditions can change quickly during severe weather.

Stay safe and make sure your family has a plan in case warnings are issued
