Jesus Alexis Cruz was detained earlier today following a traffic stop while on his way to work. After learning of his detention, his documented aunt and uncle traveled to the facility and sought custody of him. They were denied.
According to information confirmed by both the family and Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski's office, Jesus is being transported to a detention facility in Texas tonight. His family has been told he will be transferred to individuals they do not know and have never met. They have not been provided details about who will be transporting him, where he will be held, or how they can communicate with him during the transfer.
His family did what they were supposed to do - they showed up, identified themselves, and offered to take responsibility for him. They fought to bring him home.
Instead, a teenager from our community is being moved hundreds of miles away to be imprisoned in a concentration camp while his relatives search for answers.
We are calling on elected officials, community leaders, advocates, members of the media, and concerned residents to help demand transparency and accountability.
We need answers:
• Who is transporting Jesus to Texas?
• Why were family members who sought custody denied?
• At which concentration camp will he be held?
• How can his family and legal representatives communicate with him?
• Why has obtaining basic information about his custody and transfer been so difficult?
📢 TAKE ACTION:
✅ Contact your elected officials and ask them to seek answers.
✅ Tag local media outlets and community leaders.
✅ Help ensure Jesus' rights, safety, and well-being are protected.
