A few safety tips for the Winter storm that is approaching.
Do not touch downed wires, Call 9-1-1.
Be careful with the use of space heaters and make sure combustible materials are not near the device.
If you use candles make sure they are in a glass or metal container and are extinguished before leaving your home or going to bed.
Make sure your smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms are working, if you need assistance call 440-352-9133, this is the Fire Station non emergency line, for emergencies, including a Carbon Monoxide alarm call 9-1-1.
Please ensure the fire hydrant near your home is visible.

Today, Grand River, Painesville Township, Painesville City and Fairport Harbor FD's participated in a drill at the Carmeuse Lime Plant. There was a simulated victim in the elevated area of the plant. Painesville City's ladder truck was utilized to bring the victim down. Painesville Twp and City technical rescue teams were also able to practice their rope rescue skills.

There is a risk for major flooding in the forecast area this upcoming weekend. Heavy rain will fall Saturday Night through early Monday. Flash flooding and river flooding are likely. Please use this time to prepare if you are in a flood prone location. And never drive into flooded roadways. Turn around, don't drown.

Very hot and humid weather is expected again today. Heat Index Values most of the afternoon will be in the middle and upper 90s and may touch 100 degrees at a few locations. People spending time outside today need to take precautions against the heat.
