🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃 What a day in East! Huge thanks to the hundreds of athletes and supporters who came out for the Rhoades McKee Reeds Lake Triathlon this past weekend. More than 700 athletes swam, biked and ran their way through East, all while raising funds for our local community partner, The United Methodist Community House.

The Rhoades McKee Reeds Lake Triathlon starts at 8 a.m. TOMORROW (Saturday, Sept. 12).

STREET CLOSURES: Lakeside and Wealthy will close at 4 a.m. through the end of the race. All roads will be open to the public by noon.

Volunteers and Public Safety officers will be stationed along the course to assist athletes, drivers and others as they travel through the community. Vehicle traffic may need to wait before being directed safely off the race course. A City Commission meeting will take place tonight - Tuesday, Sept. 8 - at 6 p.m. in the Commission chambers at the Community Center, 750 Lakeside Drive SE.

The agenda includes consideration of:

- The Mayor’s recommendation of Mike Stelter to the Zoning Board of Appeals as an alternate.
- Adopting changes to ordinances related to public ways and clear vision areas.
- Establishing a temporary polling location at the Community Center.
- A one-year agreement with Aquinas College for scheduled use of the Community Pool.
- Awarding a contract for the 50/50 right-of-way tree planting program.
- Awarding a contract for cured-in-place pipe to rehabilitate storm sewer mains.

In observance of Labor Day, our offices are closed today (Monday, Sept. 7). Public Safety will continue to provide 24/7 support to our community during this time. Regular hours resume Tuesday.
