In recognition of Older Michiganians Day during Community Action Month, we’re highlighting KCCA’s Home Delivered Meals program and the impact it has on older adults in our community. ❤️

The program provides nutritious, culturally familiar meals that help older adults maintain their health, independence, and dignity while remaining safely in their homes. Participants report improved nutrition, better overall wellbeing, and consistent access to healthy meals.

Home Delivered Meals also provide important social connection and wellness support. For some participants, their delivery driver may be the only person they regularly see during the week, making each visit an important check on their safety and wellbeing.

Through bilingual services, culturally responsive meals, and compassionate support, KCCA is helping older adults stay healthy, connected, and independent.

This Community Action Month, we’re proud to highlight the power of community partnerships in helping fight hunger in Kent County! 💙🍎

One exciting collaboration this year is our partnership with Kids' Food Basket to bring fresh produce to our food distributions. Kids’ Food Basket is a grassroots, community-driven organization working to end childhood hunger and ensure children have access to healthy meals.

A group of their staff members joined us during January’s Quarterly Distribution to help provide food to local families, and we’re excited to continue this partnership during our July and October distributions to serve even more members of our community together.

When organizations come together, we can make an even greater impact for our neighbors.

Our 2025 Annual Report is here! This year showed what’s possible when a community comes together. 😀 Despite rising costs and growing needs, KCCA supported more than 56,000 residents - helping families stay in their homes, expanding services for seniors, and connecting people to essential resources every day.

With the support of dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners, we’re continuing to build stronger, more connected communities - and looking ahead to 2026 with a focus on reaching even more people and creating lasting impact.

🚧 Today, we’re highlighting how Community Development investments support public infrastructure across Kent County.

From improving roads and sidewalks to enhancing public spaces and essential infrastructure—even fire equipment—these projects help create safer, more accessible communities for everyone. These investments address immediate needs while also laying the foundation for long-term growth and stronger neighborhoods.

As we wrap up Community Development Week, we hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about the people, partnerships, and programs that make this work possible. Throughout the week, we’ve highlighted how Community Development supports housing, strengthens partnerships, and invests in critical services that improve quality of life for residents.

Thank you for following along and celebrating the impact of Community Development with us. We’re proud of the work happening every day and grateful for the partners and community members who help make it all possible.
