When returning to school following summer break, scholars on average perform one month behind where they performed in the spring. At Grand Rapids Public Schools, we are excited to offer summer programming to combat summer learning loss.

Don't miss Count Day this Wednesday! School attendance is extremely important and counts every day, but on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, attendance counts for something more– it counts for a portion of our school funding.

Wednesday, February 9 is the second count day of the academic year as required by the State School Aid Act to determine state funding for Michigan’s public school districts. Funding is based on the total student participation and attendance on these two days.

GRPS is asking parents, students, and our community supporters to spread the word about the importance of count day via email, Facebook, Twitter, and word of mouth.

Due to staffing shortages and Ridgemoor Park Montessori will be 100% virtual starting today, Monday, January 10 through Friday, January 14. Staff and students will return to the building on Tuesday, January 18, 2021. We will be closed on Monday, January 17 for MLK Day.

Please monitor your student’s email and Seesaw accounts for more information with specifics about the virtual schedules and expectations. Staff will be onsite today to provide you with your student’s device if it is in their classroom.

GRPS Announces Half-Day on Thursday, August 26 Due to Heat Conditions

Dear Students, Families, and Staff,

Due to heat conditions, all GRPS schools will be half-day on Thursday, August 26. The half-day bell times are available on our website at www.GRPS.org under News and Events. Athletic practices and games will continue as planned with their normal schedules and will operate under the MHSAA Heat Advisory Protocol.
