School Supply Spectacular is back!

Cass County students in Pre-K through 12th grade who are in need can receive a FREE backpack filled with school supplies to help them start the school year ready to learn.

Registration opens June 22 and closes July 17, or earlier if all backpack spots are filled.

🚗☀️ Summer Teen Driver Safety Reminder ☀️🚗

The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is often referred to as the "100 Deadliest Days" for teen drivers. During these summer months, teen traffic fatalities increase by approximately 20%.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office encourages parents and guardians to talk with their young drivers about safe driving habits before they get behind the wheel.

The Michigan State Police is offering a Teen Driving Class on July 1st to help young drivers build safe driving habits. Only 42 spots are available - register today!

Important reminders for teen drivers:
✅ Establish clear driving rules and expectations, including passenger restrictions.
✅ Avoid distractions while driving. Michigan's Hands-Free Law prohibits the use of handheld mobile devices while driving, and Kelsey's Law restricts cell phone use for drivers with a Level 1 or Level 2 license.
✅ Always wear your seat belt.
✅ Obey posted speed limits and adjust speed for road and weather conditions.
✅ Lead by example - parents and guardians can help by modeling safe driving behaviors.
