Re: PSAT/NMSQT Testing for JUNIORS – January 26 / Impact on Other Schedules
Dear Students and Families,
I am writing to share information about PSAT/NMSQT testing for junior students, and how it impacts the daily schedule on Tuesday, January 26.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions, and this test will allow juniors to qualify National Merit Scholarship. We want to ensure that every junior has an opportunity participate in qualifying for additional scholarships to assist with attending a post-secondary institution.
To that end, we have scheduled the PSAT/NMSQT test for ALL juniors IN-PERSON on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Your attending school will notify juniors of the arrival time to begin the PSAT/NMSQT assessment. On January 26, juniors will only attend school for the duration of the PSAT/NMSQT test, which can take up to 3.5 hours. Students will be released to return home when the testing process is completed.
All students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will work virtually (asynchronously) on Tuesday, January 26. In addition, students in grades 7-8 at City High Middle and students in grades 6-8 at CA Frost Middle High, GR Montessori, and University Prep Academy will ALSO work virtually (asynchronously) on Tuesday, January 26. This means that students in Cohort A, grades 9, 10, &12, who are scheduled to normally report in-person on January 26 must stay home and plan to work virtually (asynchronously). Teachers will be providing asynchronous work for these students. Students should look for more information from their teacher(s) about the daily schedule and expectations for this day.
Please note that the SAT will be administered to all juniors in spring 2021. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact your teacher(s) or the main office of your school. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rodney Lewis
