🎶 Calling all musicians for PHASE ZERO! 🎶

📣 We are looking for 15 to 18 musicians to be certified as Cultural Business Enterprises (CBEs) and *paid* as City vendors to host free public performances in the 3rd Ward on September 26th alongside SouthPrize.

🎶 These performances will launch as part of the Phase Zero pilot, a program designed to support local musicians as small businesses!

🎯 Our goal is to help local musicians formalize a small-business plan and participate directly in the City’s vendor system. The initiative recognizes musicians as micro-businesses through the City’s Micro Local Business Enterprise (MLBE) certification process.

📲 How to apply:
Musicians interested in participating may connect through the Michigan Music Alliance, the City’s designated partner for artist coordination and certification. For more information or to participate in the pilot program, please contact: [email protected]

The Third Ward Mural Project is bringing the community together to create a mural that honors the history, culture, and legacy of Grand Rapids’ Third Ward.

Every part of this project is guided by the community, from selecting the historical figure to choosing the artist and shaping the design; Third Ward residents and partners are leading the way!

Creating a community mural takes all of us. Here’s what’s coming up:'

✅ Learn Our History: We’ve partnered with GRAAMA to share stories of influential Third Ward figures. A Community Selection Committee will help choose who moves forward for public voting.

⏭️ On Sept. 17, Third Ward residents will vote on: Which historical figure to honor, the location of the mural, and the final mural design

⏭️ Select the Artist: Regional artists applied for consideration, and the committee will choose three finalists to create concepts inspired by the selected figure and site.

🏁 Create the Mural: Once the design is chosen, the artist will bring the mural to life.

🥳Celebrate Together: We’ll unveil the finished mural as a community and honor everyone who made it possible.

Learn more and participate: https://www.thirdwardmural.com/

SAVE THE DATE: On Sept. 17, we will vote on which historical figure will be the focus of the mural!
