The latest issue of Peer highlights Lily Mattson who works at GR Kroc Center and Erin McDonald a soldier a The Salvation Army - Grand Rapids, MI. (Fulton Heights) Salvation Army - Kent County. Both have taken part in ArtPrize, displaying works inspired by faith and spirituality. In 2024, Lily's work symbolized The Salvation Army’s famous slogan, ‘Doing the Most Good.’ She focused specifically on the idea of carrying the cross for our brothers and sisters in Christ and carrying each other’s burdens. And Erin's work in 2025 was inspired by the gestural language from ‘Dance’ by Henri Matisse, and using the Genesis story in the Bible. She wanted a way to explain the idea of ‘The Perichoresis’, a theological term from the Greeks describing the mutual indwelling and interpenetration of the three persons of the Trinity—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
