Yesterday was a busy day for the Wright-Tallmadge Fire Department. Our crews responded to 12 calls for service within a 24 hour period.

But more importantly we were able to celebrate the graduation of 6 new members from the Ottawa County Fire Academy! These members have worked hard over the last 6 months and we are proud of their dedication to our department and the citizens of Wright and Tallmadge Townships.

Please help us in congratulating the following members pictures from left to right.

FF Alyssa Weaver
FF Levi Ford
FF Hollie Potts
FF Larissa Deboer
FF Colin Benedict
FF Michael Cleary

Congratulations to you all and welcome to the fire service family! 🚒 👨🏻‍🚒

Today our members were invited to join the Lamont Christian Reformed Church Art Camp! Due to the excessive heat we were requested for a quick soak down of the campers!

It is always a great time when we get invited out into the community and get the opportunity to meet some of our community members!

The next two days are looking to be very warm and potentially very stormy! ⛈️ ☔️

It sounds like most of the day time hours will be sunny and hot. The storms will begin to roll through around our evening commute. Our area is positioned in the higher level risk area so make sure you have a way to receive weather alerts both Wednesday and Thursday this week.

We are a family… dysfunctional maybe, but a family none the less!

Pride in our department and in our members is of the utmost importance and only second to serving the citizens of our townships!

We have a fantastic group of men and woman who continue to show up week after week! We are excited to continue to strengthen our pride and create new traditions!

We would also like to thank Rachael Fritz Photography for taking time out of her busy day to take group photos and headshots of our members. These are just a preview using our Drone. We will be sure to share her photos once she has them processed!

It’s Friday and my ChatGPT credits have renewed! So here is a picture of FF Perales saving a whole bunch of puppies and kittens from a raging 5 alarm fire!

Did you know that the Wright-Tallmadge Fire Department carries pet sized oxygen masks? Well now you do! We are trained and equipped to handle any emergency, even those involving our furry four-legged friends. 🐕 🐈 🧑‍🚒

Don’t mind us! We are just out here disrupting everyone’s early morning commute!

All kidding aside you likely saw us out directing traffic at the intersection of 8th Ave and Ironwood. We responded to a minor vehicle accident, with non life threatening injuries.

During the early morning hours, Marne firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire within our response area. Our first arriving officer found heavy fire conditions on the C side of the structure (rear of the home) and was able to quickly confirm all occupants made it safely out of the home.

Engine 2 from the City of Walker arrived on scene within minutes of our first officer and quickly went to work knocking down a bulk of the fire. Additional units arrived and quickly setup water supply utilizing tanker trucks as the area was not covered by hydrants. Units remained on scene for several hours chasing hot spots and ensuring the fire was completely out.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a very simple fire safety tip. This structure was heavily damaged by fire, but the bedrooms remained mostly intact. This was mainly due to the bedroom doors being closed. As you can see the hallway and adjacent rooms are heavily damaged by fire while the art/pictures on the other side remained virtually untouched. Closing your bedroom doors while you sleep could mean the difference between life and death during a structure fire!

We would like to thank the following departments for their assistance this morning. We are beyond blessed to have strong mutual aid partners who not only assisted us on scene, but also back filled our stations while we were tied up!
