This morning members of our team attended the 25th anniversary 9/11 stair climb at LMCU ballpark! These members climbed the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice on the morning of September 11, 2001!

We would like to take a minute to wish Captain Dolce of Allendale Fire a very Happy Birthday! 🎉🎂

We have been waiting all day to see a birthday post on the Allendale Fire Department page, but it seems they may have forgot to celebrate one of their own!

Captain Dolce is involved heavily not only in Allendale’s community, but also the surrounding communities. Tony is big part of our regions Peer Support Team, which is our first line of defense when it comes to the mental toll we endure after difficult calls. Tony is usually heavily involved in our areas yearly Fire Academy and helps train many of our areas new members!

Happy Birthday Captain Dolce and thank you for always keeping SGT Looks in line when he crosses the river to the big City of Allendale!

We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Labor Day! Today is unofficially considered the end of the summer season and the beginning of Apples, C***r Donuts, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Fall is in the air and we are here for it! 🍁 🎃

Around 4:00 am this morning Marne fire units were dispatched to a vehicle accident with possible injuries in an unknown location. Our first unit (1873) was enroute within seconds of the call as we had just cleared another call.

1873 was unable to locate the vehicle and asked Dispatch for a better location. Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority was able to quickly ping the drivers phone and send a general location down to our in vehicle CAD system. This location bubble then shows up on the maps in our trucks giving us a general location to start looking.

1873 located the vehicle roughly 200 yards off the roadway in the median by the ironwood on ramp. One patient had been ejected from the vehicle and two more remained trapped inside requiring extrication by our team.

The outcome of this call turned out relatively okay all things considering. This is largely due to a collaborative effort between Fire, Police and our dispatch center. We also cannot forget about Life EMS Ambulance who had three ambulances on scene for us in what felt like a matter of minutes. Also Coopersville/Polkton Fire Rescue for providing 433 which is a traffic blocking unit used to protect us on scene while we work!

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Country Music icon, Dolly Parton! Dolly was a true legend in the music industry, but was never afraid to give back to her fans! We remember the night she showed up at the annual Ottawa County Karaoke Night and helped us secure a landslide victory in the competition! 🎤 🎶

Our condolences go out to her family as they navigate this time of grief! Dolly’s presence will live on with all us as she plays her final eternal show next to our Lord and Savior!

For many today marks the end of summer! Many kids from around our area will begin the morning commute back to school Monday morning. This means buses will be back on our roadways and traffic during morning commute times will increase.

This also means that tomorrow many of us parents will be jumping on the social medial trend with our “first day of school posts” and bragging about how cute our kids are.

In honor of that, we asked a few of our members to make their own first day of school signs so we could brag about how awesome our members are as well! Some of their answers surprised us, others not so much!

While we do not currently have anyone in “school” at the moment, the rumor is we recently hired a few new members who will be starting the fire academy this winter!

Another great night of training and big shout out to the team at Corewell Health Aero Med for flying the helicopter in for us.

It is not often that we request Aeromed due to our close proximity to the hospitals downtown, but as we get into our northern areas the need is there. It is usually a pretty bad day when we are calling them in so trainings like these are essential to make sure we are not making the day any worse.

The flight crew last night refreshed us on what medical supply’s they carry and how we can safely navigate landing them at our emergency scene!

And our members had the opportunity to watch the Helicopter land, which if you don’t know, Firefighters are just oversized kids when it comes to Helicopters!🚁 👨🏻‍🚒
