Join us on Wednesday (June 3) for our first Summer Reading Program event of the summer - "Unearth a Story—Illustrated History of the Soo Locks"!

The construction of the Soo Locks, connecting Lake Superior to the lower Great Lakes, was a massive undertaking! Deep dive into the history of the Soo Locks with Chief Park Ranger Michelle Briggs. This presentation uses historic photos dating back to the 1860s to review the construction of the eight locks built on the St. Mary’s River and put them into the context of world and US events. This presentation also includes an update on the 9th navigation lock currently being built. All ages welcome.

Our Summer Reading Program begins on June 1, and we are so excited for our theme this year, "Unearth a Story"! Combining dinosaurs and geology, this summer is really going to ROCK :D While you're here browsing around, be sure to take a moment to see all the cool creations our Marketing Coordinator Stefanie has made! From shimmering crystal points to a 6ft dino skeleton, they've been busy making fun displays for our patrons to enjoy!

We had a few important announcements this morning we wanted to share:

🐝We are aware of the swarm of bees in one of the small trees in the parking lot by the library (across from the Frontier lot spaces) and have reported it to the city. Please take care when parking by that tree if possible.
🚌 We have school tours/visits coming into the library all day today, so things may be a bit loud!
🧑‍🏫 This afternoon at 2:30pm we have Lake Trust Credit Union coming in to present "Adult Skills: Protect Yourself from Financial Scams". Join other adults for coffee, conversation, and knowledge in this educational presentation!
📚This evening between 6pm - 7pm is our final Silent Book Club Grand Ledge at BrickHaven Brewing Company! [Reg. Req.] until the Fall. We still have spaces left, and you can reserve your seat on our Event Calendar.
