COL Stutz is no stranger to the 100th as he also served in the 117th Space Battalion and 49th Missile Defense Battalion, both subordinate units to the 100th.

Another highlight from our visit to our deployed aviators in Kosovo. It’s always rewarding to have the opportunity to visit and speak with our deployed troops.

This Memorial Day, I ask each Soldier, Airman and civilian to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this solemn holiday.

Memorial Day is not simply a long weekend or the unofficial start of summer. It is a day set aside to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms we enjoy and the mission we continue to carry forward. As members of the National Guard, we have a responsibility to remember their legacy, support the families they left behind and live in a way that honors their service.

The strength of our force is built on our people, our families, and the legacy of those who came before us. This Memorial Day, let us honor the fallen through remembrance, gratitude, and responsible action.

Today I had the honor of attending the Colorado Freedom Memorial's "Colorado Remembers: 150 Years of Service and Sacrifice" event, recognizing the more than 6,100 Coloradans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our state and nation.

As we mark the 250th anniversary of our nation and the 150th anniversary of our state, we are reminded that Colorado’s story is deeply rooted in service, courage and sacrifice.

Colorado remembers, and we are forever grateful.

As the Adjutant General of Colorado, one of the most rewarding things for me to do is to visit our deployed troops. Recently, we paid a visit to our aviators from 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment who are currently deployed with NATO’s Kosovo Force.

The amount of work our Soldiers have contributed to this vital peacekeeping mission is outstanding and I couldn’t be any more proud of them. Keep up the great work Colorado and, as always, hold the high ground.
