It's time for the E in STEAM!

What can we design to help...

🤔 Our kindergarten teacher with an injured arm pick up objects from the ground?

📚 Our secretary deliver school supplies to classrooms?

🪂 Communities receive critical supplies when roads are impassable after a natural disaster?

Those were the challenges our learners tackled through the Engineering Design Process today at New Emerson STEAM LEAD!

We mixed up grade levels, collaborated, communicated, thought critically, and got creative (all 4 Cs). Most importantly, learners tested, improved, persevered, and had a whole lot of fun along the way.

A huge thank you to our fabulous volunteers who made our first Design Challenge Monday possible! 💙

The past couple of years have brought plenty of change and challenge, but our New Emerson community has continued to grow together. I’m so proud of our staff, students, and families, and so grateful for this remarkable little school. 💚

A day of firsts! 💙

✨ First day of school for our 1st–5th graders!
🏫 First time learning in our new classrooms.
🥗 🥪 First time eating in a cafeteria that isn’t also the gym—and having a salad bar!
⚽ First time playing soccer at Fresh Air with real nets.
🎨 📕 First time getting creative for a Summer Reading Museum Exhibit.

And so much more!

New Emerson is the people, and filling these halls with our children, families, and staff brought it all together. Today, our new building truly became our learning home. 🏠💙

What a day. What a beginning. What a community.

Our new building is feeling like home thanks to the hard work of staff and families volunteering their time and energy for the past several weeks. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.💕

Yesterday, we got to enjoy our new professional learning space, “The Gathering Place,” and lean into our theme for the year - Courage: Courage to Preserve What Matters and Courage to Navigate What’s Next.

So proud of our students, staff, and families! Tonight, New Emerson was recognized at the school board meeting for receiving the John Irwin Award from the Colorado Department of Education. This honor is awarded to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time.

This recognition reflects the hard work, perseverance, and commitment of our entire school community. Thank you to everyone who helps make New Emerson the incredible place of learning that it is.

These are the best days. Full and fast and pure childhood. The kind of days where there is no way to capture all of it, but we managed to hold onto a few moments anyway.

Teacher Appreciation Week. Talent Show. Family Picnic. Field Day. Fire trucks. Seniors returning to walk our halls one more time. Fifth graders getting ready to spread their wings and leave us.

So much joy, celebration, and love packed into these final weeks. There is truly no place like New Emerson. 💙

What a day at New Emerson 💫

You could feel it everywhere on Tuesday. Community. Perseverance. Courage. Joy.

Our 3rd–5th grade scientists stepped up and truly owned their learning, presenting their projects with courage and expertise. Huge gratitude to our community members, D51 leaders, and families who gave their time to listen, ask questions, and celebrate our learners.

And then… STEAM LEAD Night took off 🚀Our staff created hands-on experiences inspired by every letter of STEAM, and families jumped right in. Designing, building, experimenting, creating, and laughing together.

We wrapped it all up with pizza, play, and that feeling you get when something really special has happened.

Full hearts. Full minds. Grateful for this community.

What a week at New Emerson!

✨ Celebrated our amazing secretary, Shelly
🏃🏼‍♀️ Our Girls on the run hosted a bakesale and ran their practice Color 5K run
🏫 Kicked off our transition from the Columbus building to our new home with families, staff, and students, past and present
🎶 Heard our brand new school song, written and performed by talented New Emerson parents Elise and Faith Eliza
📦 Welcomed families and friends who jumped in to help us start packing up an entire school (wow, thank you!)
🍽️ Felt the love with a delicious lunch from our wonderful new neighbors at the Early Childhood Education Center

Our hearts are full and this community continues to amaze us.
