It's been a summer to remember for us on the Western Slope. 💚

From farmers' markets in Fruita, Delta, Basalt, and Glenwood Springs to the Mesa County Fair, our team spent the summer driving across the Western Slope, sharing resources with our neighbors, recruiting volunteers, and connecting with local farmers and ranchers to donate fresh produce and meat to families facing food insecurity.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners who welcomed us into their communities and helped make this work possible. We're always grateful for the opportunity to share our mission. 🤝

At 75, Tom has lived a life full of twists and turns, including a career working on automobiles, a move to Texas chasing opportunity in the oil fields, and years of bouncing from state to state. His sister on the Western Slope ultimately gave him a place to land. 💚

Now Tom lives with his 71-year-old brother, and every month, he makes the 45-mile drive to our mobile pantry: rain or shine.

"I come here every month for the fresh produce mostly, and baked goods."

For Tom, a cancer survivor living on a fixed income, fresh fruit isn't something he can afford at the grocery store. But here, it's waiting for him.

"Fresh fruit is unaffordable."

45 miles is a long way to drive, but for Tom, it's worth the miles. Thank you to our donors and volunteers who help neighbors like Tom access fresh produce. 🫶
