The Second Public Hearing for the Proposed Town Charter is on 9/21.

Subject: Second Public Hearing on the Draft Town Charter

Notice is hereby given that the Grand Isle Selectboard will hold a second public hearing on Monday, September 21st to receive public input and discuss the Draft Town Charter, dated August 17, 2026.

The purpose of this hearing is to provide residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed Town Charter, which serves as the foundational governing document for the Town. The proposed Town Charter contains the following sections: Section 1: General Provisions; Section 2: Elected Officers; Section 3: Appointed Officers; Section 4: Removal of Elected Town Officers; Section 5: Application of General Law; and Section 6: Severability.

Copies of the Draft Town Charter, dated August 17, 2026, in its entirety are available for public review at the Grand Isle Town Office, 9 Hyde Road, Grand Isle, VT 05458 during its regular business hours. A copy is also available on the Town’s website: www.grandislevt.org

All interested persons are encouraged to attend and participate. Written comments may also be submitted in advance to the Selectboard at [email protected]

The DRB is seeking both Alternates & Members to serve on the board. The DRB gathers on the first & third Wednesday of each month at 6pm to review development proposals such as Conditional Use or Lot Subdivisions from businesses & residents in town. Meetings are typically 30-60 minutes and training is offered to learn the role.

To apply please email the DRB Clerk Adam @ [email protected] with a statement of interest. We’ll then invite you to a board meeting for a brief interview after which the board may vote to send a recommendation to the Selectboard who will vote to appoint you as a Member or Alternate.

Serving on the DRB is a great way to give back to the community you live in & Members are compensated for meeting attendance. Please apply today!

ROADSIDE WORK TO BEGIN MONDAY, 8/31

Starting on Monday August 31st, the Highway Department will start brush cutting and small tree removal. Crew will start on Griswold Road, and work on Adams School Road after. If work is done in front of your house and you would like the firewood, please call 802-372-4863 and leave a message. The crew will only be working in the Right-of -way.

The 1st of two Public hearings regarding the Town Charter will be held this Monday, 8/31 at 6:00 p.m. The Selectboard meeting will begin immediately after. Community members are encouraged to attend in person at the Town office, or via Zoom.

The Development Review Board (DRB) is seeking an Alternate.

The Board meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month. Alternates attend each meeting and may be asked to be a Board Member if there is an absence.

Effective October 1, 2024: The Grand Isle Transfer Station will no longer be able to accept cash per the auditor's report.

The Grand Isle Transfer Station will accept only checks and debit/credit card payments effective October 1, 2024.
