Andrew, Mabel, and Helen Hargis were fans of Schimmer's Lake, South of Grand Island. Just think of your visit as a blast from the past! Our club has photos of them swimming at the lake and driving their 1903 Oldsmobile on a road at the lake. It's only fitting that one of the stops on the Garden Tour, June27, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. , is at Hall County Park. Ten dollar donation tickets may be obtained from any Hargis House Woman's Club member or at any of the tour stops. At Hall County Park parking is available near the Green Shelter . Jenna Hargens, Maintenance Supervisor and Assistant to the Park Supervisor, will be on hand to share about the landscaping and flower beds at the park.

It's a one-stop, two-garden experience on Platte Drive, Philips, NE during the Hargis House Woman's Club's garden tour on June 27, 2026 from 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. We are asking for a $10.00 ticket donation. Tickets may be obtained from any Hargis House member or at any of the garden tour stops.

The Hargis House is decked out in red, white, and blue for the Women in the Military Event on June 12 beginning at 1:00 p.m. This is the Hargis House Womans Club annual salute to women who served in the military.

Members of the Hargis House Womans club are preparing this week for the Friday, June 12 Women in the Military Recognition Event. The interior of the house will have various patriotic displays as well as information about women who served or are serving in the military. The program begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Hargis House Womans Club on Friday, June 12. This is a community service event and the public is invited. Refreshments and house tours will be available.

There was a first at the Hargis House Woman's Club of Grand Island this weekend: a 100th anniversary celebration! The Betsey Hager DAR Chapter hosted 65 guests from Nebraska and Colorado at this special event. How exciting to learn that some of the charter members were also members of the Grand Island Woman's Club that bought the Hargis House in 1953. Guests also enjoyed a tour of the beautiful Queen Anne Victorian home.

Be sure to attend this year's 2nd annual program at the Hargis House, June 12, 2026 from 1:00 to 3 :00 p.m. Join us as we celebrate the women who served in our military as well as those that serve today. We'll have a speaker, soloist, pianist, quilt of valor presentation and refreshments.
