Units from Robinson Township Fire are currently on scene of a car/semi accident at 120th Ave and Lake Michigan Dr. Aeromed just departed the scene, and the road will be closed for some time to conduct an investigation. Please avoid the area while we work to open the roadway. Thank you for your understanding.

We stand with our brothers and sisters of the Walker Fire Department as they mourn the sudden passing of their Chief. We also extend our sympathies to Chief Shoultz's family as they navigate this tough time.

The fire service is full of traditions. One of those traditions is a pinning ceremony. Pinning ceremonies happen after a new firefighter completes the fire academy or a current firefighter has been promoted. This ceremony celebrates the dedication and commitment the firefighter has shown to become a firefighter or to have been promoted. During this ceremony family members are invited to pin the firefighters new badge on their chest. Last night we held a pinning ceremony for two of our recently promoted officers.

Deputy Chief Wiersma has been serving in his new role for several months now, but we were able to celebrate his promotion tonight by having his wife Lisa pin his new collar brass on him.

Lieutenant Kelly was just promoted and started his new position last week. He was pinned by his father Jim.

Congratulations to both men, and we are excited to watch you excel in your new positions.

**Promotion Announcement** Robinson Fire Department would like to announce the promotion of Firefighter Garrett Kelly to the position of Lieutenant.

Firefighter Kelly joined Robinson Township Fire on Aug 1st, 2013. He earned his Firefighter 1 & 2 and Medical First Responder certificates. Recently he has started his journey to obtaining his Fire Officer certificate. Firefighter Kelly has been an integral part in mentoring and training new members of our department.

Please congratulate Firefighter Kelly on his well deserved promotion if you see him around the township.

Last night Robinson Township Fire and 9 or 10 of our closest friends (fire departments) assisted Spring Lake Fire Department on a stubborn industrial fire last night. Crews worked for almost 7 hours to extinguish the fire.

Tonight we held our annual Appreciation/Awards Dinner at which we presented members with their service awards.

The members pictured below received the following awards.

- Luke Reenders received his 15 year service award.

- Blair DeYoung received his 30 year service award.

- Chuck Sibley received his 40 year service award.

Not pictured:
- Andrew Berens received his 10 year service award.

- Dwayne Knieper received his 15 year service award.

We are extremely greatful for the wonderful men and women of our department who proudly serve the residents of Robinson Township.

Early this morning, Robinson Township Fire along with mutual aid from Allendale Township, Grand Haven Township, Crockery Township, and Olive Township responded to a reported structure fire on 128th Ave. Upon our arrival we were met with heavy smoke from a fire in the attic of the residence. The homeowners were able to exit safely.

Mutual aid is vital in labor intensive fires such as this. We are fortunate for great relationships with our neighboring departments, and are grateful for their help this morning.

Robinson Township Fire was called out tonight to assist Spring Lake Fire with an Engine and manpower for a structure fire in this 125+ year old former carriage house. There were 6 other departments on scene, plus several other departments back filling stations. Mutual aid is key to fighting fires like this, and we were glad we could help our neighboring (kind of) department out.

Tonight members of your fire department trained in ice rescue. We practiced different methods of extricating someone that fell through the ice. Although we were disappointed we didn't get to try out our new flotation device!! 😁
