As a reminder, rabies vaccinations for pet/family members are required in the city. Owners of non-vaccinated pets may be cited for failure to do so. This helps keep your loved one safe and the community too. Rabies is a serious disease.
11-0105. - Same—Rabies vaccination.
(1)All dogs, cats and ferrets maintained within the city of Grand Forks shall be vaccinated for rabies according to label requirements of the vaccines used. All owners of dogs, cats and ferrets maintained within the city of Grand Forks shall maintain a copy of a vaccination certificate demonstrating current vaccination for rabies.
(2)Before the finance department, or an authorized agent, shall accept any money proffered in payment of the dog or cat license fee or shall issue a receipt therefor, the person applying for the license shall present a rabies vaccination certificate certifying that the dog or cat for which the license is being procured is currently vaccinated for rabies and stating when the animal is due for revaccination.
(3)The rabies vaccination for dogs and cats shall initially begin when the dog or cat is between three (3) months and six (6) months of age. A booster shot shall be given one (1) year following initial vaccination. Subsequent vaccinations or booster shots shall not exceed the time allowed by the vaccine label.
