This past weekend, Officer Conner had the privilege of attending the Special Olympics Michigan Summer Games at Central Michigan University.

We are grateful to Special Olympics Michigan for welcoming us and allowing us to be a small part of such an incredible event. The determination, sportsmanship, and positive spirit displayed by the athletes serve as an inspiration to everyone in attendance.

Opportunities like this are especially meaningful because they strengthen the connection between law enforcement and the communities we serve while allowing us to celebrate the achievements of these outstanding athletes. We are honored to support Special Olympics Michigan and look forward to future events.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed this weekendβ€”we are proud of you!

Last week, our department held its annual awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding work, professionalism, and dedication displayed by our officers and staff throughout the past year. These awards reflect the commitment our members show each and every day while serving our community.

This year’s recipients included:

πŸ† Officer Hose – Officer of the Year
πŸ… Officer Ellis – Certificate of Recognition
πŸ… Officer Bedell – Certificate of Recognition
πŸ… Detective Rouse – Certificate of Commendation
πŸ… Detective Kelly – Certificate of Recognition

While our annual ceremony traditionally recognizes all awards from the previous year, there was one incident that deserved separate recognition and remembrance.

Following the tragic LDS church shooting in Grand Blanc late last year, a special ceremony was held to honor the bravery, professionalism, and response of the officers involved during that difficult and heartbreaking event. Their actions in the face of danger reflected the courage and selflessness expected of those who wear the badge.

The following members were recognized during that special event:

πŸŽ– Officer Hose – Medal of Valor
πŸŽ– Officer Graver – Medal of Valor
πŸŽ– Officer Fitzpatrick – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– Officer Hodge – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– Detective Kelly – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– Detective Rouse – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– D/Sgt. Edwards – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– Sgt. Guigear – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– Lt. Byarski – Unit Citation
πŸŽ– Chief Lipe – Unit Citation

We are proud of all of our members and thankful for their continued dedication to protecting and serving our community. Please join us in congratulating these officers for their exceptional work and service.

Today we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day and recognize two of the very best β€” Heidi and Tammy!

Heidi and Tammy are truly the backbone of our department. They keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, answer countless phone calls with patience and professionalism, and are often the first friendly faces you see when you walk through our doors.

Their dedication, organization, and positive attitudes make a difference every single day β€” not just for our officers and staff, but for the entire community we serve.

Thank you, Heidi and Tammy, for everything you do. We appreciate you more than you know!

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to K9 Hero Guardians for the opportunity to participate in live demonstrations at the Mid-Michigan Pet Expo over the past three days.

Sgt. Jolman, Det. Rouse, and GBK9 Ace were proud to represent our department and showcase the training, teamwork, and capabilities that go into K9 operations. K9 Ace did an outstanding job throughout the event, demonstrating both skill and discipline.

We are incredibly grateful for the support shown by the community during the expo. Events like this provide a valuable opportunity to connect with the public and highlight the important role K9 teams play in law enforcement.

Thank you again to everyone who came out to support!

πŸ“šπŸš” March Is Reading Month! πŸš”πŸ“š

March is Reading Month, and our officers always enjoy the opportunity to get involved in our local schools and promote a love of reading! Building positive relationships with students while encouraging education is something we truly value.

This month, Detective Rouse had the pleasure of reading to Ms. Andre’s 2nd grade class at Cook Elementary, sharing a great story and spending time with some awesome students.

Sgt. Edwards also enjoyed reading to Mrs. Edwards’ 1st grade class at Reid Elementary β€” proving you’re never too young to build great reading habits (or to ask a few tough questions for a police officer πŸ˜‰).

Officer Ellis also had the pleasure of reading to Mrs. Shorey's Kindergarten class at Holy Family Catholic School. As you can imagine, the kids were thrilled to have a police officer read them a story!

Thank you to the teachers and staff for welcoming us into your classrooms. We’re proud to support our schools and help make reading fun!

πŸ€ Happy St. Patrick's Day! πŸ€

We love a good celebrationβ€”but let’s keep the luck on your side today.

Did you know? St. Patrick’s Day is consistently one of the top days of the year for impaired driving crashes. In recent years, nearly 40% of traffic fatalities nationwide during the holiday involved a drunk driver.

Translation: Don’t press your luck.

If you’re celebrating:
βœ… Designate a sober driver
βœ… Use a rideshare
βœ… Call a friend
βœ… Stay where you are

Our officers will be out ensuring everyone makes it home safely. The only thing getting pinched today should be your green outfitβ€”not your driving privileges.

Stay safe, stay smart, and may the luck of the Irish be with you! πŸš”πŸ€
