Today, we pause to remember what Memorial Day is truly about.

It is more than a long weekend, cookouts, or time off.
It is a day to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

The members of the Indian Harbor Volunteer Fire Department remember the fallen heroes of our armed forces and all who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends today, please take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor those who never made it home.
Freedom isn’t free.
We remember.

Today, all Hood County Fire Departments were honored at Memorial Lane Park, recognizing the dedication and service of our firefighters. Each department took a moment to highlight one individual who has gone above and beyond in giving their time, energy, and commitment.

A special congratulations to Tommy Halko from the Indian Harbor VFD for this well-deserved recognition. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed—thank you for all that you do for our community.

INDIAN HARBOR VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT 🚒

Earlier today at approximately 9:00 AM, Indian Harbor VFD was toned out to a working structure fire. We responded alongside our partners at Granbury Volunteer Fire Department, Pecan Plantation EMS & VFD, and Texas EMS.

Due to the intensity of the fire, a second alarm was requested early. We appreciate the additional support from Tolar Volunteer Fire Department and Somervell County Fire Department, whose quick response and teamwork were critical in bringing this fire under control.

This was a challenging incident, but thanks to the coordinated efforts of all agencies on scene, the fire was successfully contained. We are also very thankful to report that several animals on the property were able to make it to safety.

Incidents like this highlight the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships and trained volunteers ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

Please keep those affected in your thoughts.
