Texas NAHRO Members,
August is NAHRO's advocacy month. It is time to let Congress know the crucial need to support affordable housing programs.
Milet Hopping (Waco President/CEO) is the President of SWNAHRO and is asking Texas NAHRO members to support the letter-writing campaign. Please encourage employees of your Agency, residents, property owners, and community members to send letters daily to let Congress know the crucial need for affordable housing and services.
The Southwest NAHRO region has set a goal to send 15,000 letters. Texas is the biggest and best state in the Southwest Region, so I ask you to send letters daily from today through August 30, 2024.
NAHRO’s annual campaign housing topic schedule is revealed below:
Week 1: July 29 – August 2 | Fully Fund HUD Programs in Fiscal Year 2025
Week 2: August 5 – August 9 | Fully Fund & Improve Housing Voucher Effectiveness
Week 3: August 12 – August 16 | Support and Preserve Public Housing
Week 4: August 19 – 23 | Invest in Community Development & Housing Supply
Week 5: August 26 – 30 | Address Increases in Homelessness
Bonus Week: September 2 – September 6 | Expand Housing Tax Credits Visit NAHRO’s Action
You can send the same letter every day and multiple times. As the weeks progress, you can send letters from the current and previous weeks, too. The more letters you send, the better, to let Congress know the importance of funding affordable housing and services.
