⚠️ Lithium-Ion Battery Safety: Do’s & Don’ts ⚠️
Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day, including phones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, and rechargeable equipment. While generally safe, damaged or improperly charged batteries can cause fast-moving fires that are difficult to extinguish.
✅ DO:
🔋 Use only the charger recommended by the manufacturer.
🔋 Charge batteries on a hard, non-combustible surface.
🔋 Keep batteries away from extreme heat and direct sunlight.
🔋 Inspect batteries regularly for damage, swelling, leaks, or unusual odors.
🔋 Store batteries in a cool, dry location.
🔋 Dispose of damaged or old batteries at approved recycling centers.
❌ DON’T:
🚫 Leave batteries charging unattended overnight.
🚫 Use batteries that are swollen, cracked, or damaged.
🚫 Charge batteries near flammable materials such as bedding, furniture, or paper products.
🚫 Throw lithium-ion batteries in household trash.
🚫 Modify batteries or use incompatible chargers.
🚫 Ignore signs of overheating, smoking, or unusual noises.
If a Battery Starts Smoking or Catches Fire:
🔥 Move away and call 911 immediately.
🔥 Evacuate the area if necessary.
🔥 Do not handle a burning battery.
🔥 Alert others nearby to the danger.
