INDIANAPOLIS (WV News) — The National Athletic Trainers Association honored one of Jackson County’s very own in June 2023.
Steve Lough, who serves Ripley High School’s athletes, was recognized as the NATA Secondary School Athletic Trainer for District 3, which encompasses West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, North Carolina,
and South Carolina.
Lough was honored during the national meeting, which took place June 21-24 in Indianapolis.
By being named the District 3 winner, Lough was in the running with 10 other districts for the national honor.
“Unfortunately, I was not selected, but was very excited to be the winner of our district and to represent them,” Lough said of this prestigious honor.
Lough, who does an outstanding job as Ripley High School’s athletic director,
is entering his 29th year as an athletic trainer.
Early in March, the West Virginia Athletic Trainers Association presented Lough with the Service Award for the work he’s done with athletic training in the state.
