But here's what makes these creations even MORE special…

💜 They're being handcrafted by our very own Portal employee, BOB! 💜

Bob has been hard at work putting his incredible woodworking talents to use, building these beautiful pieces that will become part of Portal's Candy Cane Lane display at this year's Illuminate Ozaukee Drive-Thru Light Show!

The time, talent, creativity, and craftsmanship going into these pieces are truly something special. We are so fortunate to have someone willing to share his talents to help bring this vision to life.

THANK YOU, BOB! Your hard work and dedication are so very appreciated, and we cannot WAIT to see everything come together! 💜

🍂🎃✨ FRIDAY NIGHT FUN, FALL MAGIC & A WHOLE LOT OF SMILES! ✨🎃🍂

Oh, what a night we had with our Portal Recreation crew! ❤️

This past Friday, we packed up our vans and headed to Bookworm Gardens in Sheboygan for an evening filled with beautiful fall scenery, colorful lights, laughter, friendship, and a little Halloween magic! 🎃🌟

And WOW... what an incredible place to spend a fall evening!

From the gorgeous outdoor displays and twinkling lights to the GIANT glowing jack-o'-lantern (seriously, LOOK at that pumpkin! 🎃😂), there was something exciting around every corner!

We walked through the entire display, taking in all the sights, stopping for pictures, sharing laughs, and just enjoying being together. Of course, no great Portal Recreation outing would be complete without sharing dinner together! 🍽️❤️

And here's where I get a little personal...

I was fortunate enough to tag along on this adventure, and I am SO glad I did! 💜

There is something incredibly special about getting to spend time with our participants outside of our everyday routines. Watching friendships grow, seeing everyone enjoying themselves, sharing conversations, snapping selfies, and experiencing something fun together reminds me exactly why our Recreation program is so important.

And let's face it... we're in Wisconsin! We need to soak up every beautiful outdoor evening we can before the snow starts flying! ❄️😂

But here's what I love most about these pictures...

It's not just about WHERE we went. It's about WHO we went with. 💜

It's the smiles. The friendships. The silly selfies. The conversations over dinner. The excitement of exploring somewhere together. It's those little moments that turn an ordinary Friday night into a wonderful memory.

THAT is what Portal Recreation is all about! 🥰

A huge thank-you to Bookworm Gardens for creating such a beautiful experience, and to our incredible Recreation staff and everyone who helped make this outing possible!

📸 Now, take a look at these pictures! From our pre-adventure selfies to our group photos under the lights, I think you'll agree that this crew knows how to make the most of a Friday night!

💜 At Portal, we're not just planning outings. We're creating opportunities for friendship, connection, independence, and memories that last long after the evening ends.

🍁 Here's to more adventures, more laughter, and making the most of every season!

☀️🎨 A little sunshine + a lot of creativity = pure art magic! 🎨☀️

Our Art Department has been working on something especially beautiful — cyanotype fabric! 💙✨

Led by our wonderful art teacher, Serena, participants headed outside to soak up some sunshine while it’s still here. 🌿🌼 They arranged leaves, flowers, grasses, and other natural elements onto the fabric to create their own one-of-a-kind designs.

Then came the really fun part — the fabric was exposed to the sunlight, and little by little, the images began to appear almost like magic! ✨ The deep blue background and crisp white plant shapes turned each piece into a completely unique work of art.

We absolutely love seeing the creativity that comes out of our Art Department — and this project was such a beautiful mix of nature, science, sunshine, and imagination. 💙🌿

🎁✨ Help Us Build Something Wonderful! ✨🎁

We’re gathering items to create gift baskets for Portal, and this is such an easy, fun way to support a small nonprofit doing meaningful work in our community. 💜

Don’t have enough items to make a whole basket? That’s okay! We would LOVE to take individual items and combine them with other donations to create something special. No donation is too small.

Have a gift card you’d like to donate? Perfect! 🎟️

Have a bottle of w**e sitting around? We can turn it into part of a beautiful curated basket. 🍷

Have some fun items from Door County? We’d LOVE to build a Door County-themed basket! 🍒🌊

Maybe you have coffee, candles, snacks, home décor, spa items, sports gear, kitchen goodies, or something unique that would make a great addition to a basket — we can use it! ☕🕯️🍫🏈

Sometimes the best baskets come together one donated item at a time. ❤️
Every gift helps Portal continue creating opportunities for adults with disabilities to learn, connect, participate, work, and be part of their community.

If you’ve been looking for a simple way to support a local nonprofit, this is it! 🙌
Have something to donate? We would be so grateful to put it to good use! 💜🎁

🍂🧵✨ Craft Night with Portal Recreation! ✨🧵🍂

Our Recreation crew got into the spirit of the season with a cozy Fall Craft Night filled with creativity, conversation, and lots of hands-on fun! 🎃🍁

Everyone had the chance to work on a couple of festive projects — including fall mason jar candle holders decorated with beautiful autumn colors, leaves, and ribbon, along with some adorable sewing projects featuring pumpkins, leaves, and other seasonal designs. 🕯️🪡🧶

We loved seeing everyone make each project their own, help one another along the way, and proudly show off their finished creations! 💛🧡❤️

There’s just something about a table full of craft supplies, friends, and a little fall sparkle that makes for a pretty great evening. 🍂✨
