⚠️ Reminder from the Village of Gouverneur ⚠️

Anyone offering goods or services within the Village of Gouverneur is required to obtain a Peddler’s Permit before conducting business inside Village limits.

This requirement applies to activities including, but not limited to, operating food trucks, garbage collection services, and door-to-door sales conducted within the Village.

Peddler’s Permits must be obtained through the Village of Gouverneur Village Offices prior to operating inside the Village of Gouverneur.

Defendant was arrested on a Bench Warrant issued by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for violation of pre-trial following a disorderly conduct complaint at the Gouverneur McDonald’s restaurant. The defendant was turned over to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The defendant was released with uniform traffic tickets with a Gouverneur Town Court date.

A traffic stop was initiated on South Street and further investigation revealed the defendant to be intoxicated with a suspended N.Y.S. driver’s license. The defendant was transported to Gouverneur Police Department for processing where a breath test revealed the defendant’s B.A.C. to be .19. The defendant was issued appearance tickets with a Gouverneur Town Court date.

Defendant was observed operating a vehicle coming out of the Family Dollar parking lot on East Main Street fishtailing his pickup truck which created a hazardous condition. Further investigation revealed the defendant has a suspended non-driver ID only. The defendant was issued an appearance ticket and a uniform traffic ticket with the Gouverneur Town Court date.

On April 11th, 2026, at approximately 11:16 AM the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care while operating a motor vehicle by revving the engine and squealing the tires. The defendant attempted to strike another vehicle with his vehicle and then passed in front of this vehicle slamming on his brakes. while yelling out his window. The defendant was found to have a suspended N.Y.S. driver’s license. The defendant was arrested and released with uniform traffic tickets with a Gouverneur Town Court date.

Further investigation revealed that the defendant was intoxicated. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Gouverneur Police Department for processing. The defendant provided a breath sample to determine his BAC was .1%. The defendant was issued appearance tickets with a Gouverneur Town Court date.

Posting on behalf of the Village of Gouverneur Department of Public Works:

The Village of Gouverneur, Department of Public Works, wishes to inform residents that hydrant flushing will be done during the day, from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday, May 4th, 2026 and then again from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026.

Residents may notice a loss of water pressure and a slight discoloration of the water. While the water is safe to drink, residents are encouraged to hold off on doing white laundry.

Although the photos are blurry, the Gouverneur Village Police Department is looking for the public's assistance in identifying these individuals captured on a surveillance camera on April 25, 2026, at approximately 4:35 am. Any residences in the village with video surveillance in the area of North Gordon Street is encouraged to review footage for the date and time in question. The Gouverneur Police Department is investigating a burglary believed to have occurred between 4:30 am to 5:00 pm of April 17th, 2026, on Parker Street. We are asking Village residents in the area of Parker Street to review their home video surveillance cameras during the time frame for suspicious activity in that area and ask if video footage is located, to call the Gouverneur Police Department at (315) 287-2121. The Gouverneur Police Department is investigating a burglary that took place during the early morning hours of April 13th, 2026 on Scotch Settlement Road. We are asking Village residents in the area of Scotch Settlement Road, Bullard Street, Spencer Street and Factory Street to review their home video surveillance cameras for the period of time of April 13th, 2026 from midnight through 5:00a.m. for suspicious activity in that area, particularly for unknown persons walking in the area and ask that if video footage is located, it be brought to the attention of the Gouverneur Police Department.

On 3/21/2026 located at 31 Sterling Street the defendant did intentionally cause physical injury to the victim when defendant used a wooden police baton by striking the victim's left arm several times, for which the victim sought medical treatment for a broken arm. The defendant was arraigned in the Gouverneur Town Court and was held at the Saint Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.

The defendant was arraigned at the Gouverneur Town Court and released on his own recognizance with a return court date. A stay away order of protection was issued for the children.
