Our kindergarten students received a very special surprise today from a group of graduating seniors! The seniors took the time to learn one of the songs the kindergarteners performed at their concert and then surprised them by singing it together. They also treated the students to a performance of one of their own songs.

It was a heartwarming experience that brought smiles to everyone involved and created a wonderful connection between our youngest learners and soon-to-be graduates.

A special thank you to our elementary chorus teacher, Mrs. Capito, and our high school chorus teacher, Mr. Worden, for helping make this memorable experience possible. We would also like to recognize the participating seniors: Kylen Bowman, Jackson Ritchie, J.D. Minckler, Cassidy Chambers, Alyssa Farr, Arianna Sibley, and Lilly Moore.

Moments like these remind us what makes our school community so special! 💙💛

Our 2nd graders had an unforgettable adventure at The Wild Center, where they explored the incredible TROLLS: Save the Humans exhibit!

Students discovered six larger-than-life troll sculptures created by artist Thomas Dambo using reclaimed materials. As they wandered through the outdoor exhibit, they learned important lessons about recycling, reusing materials, caring for plants and gardens, and being good stewards of our planet.

🏛️ GMS Learning Beyond the Classroom in Albany!

Last week, members of our NJHS, Student Council, and History Club traveled to Albany for a day filled with history, leadership, and hands-on learning.

A highlight of the trip was our tour of the New York State Capitol with Senator Mark Walczyk. From the magnificent architecture to the Senate Chamber, our students were fully engaged as they learned about New York State government, leadership, and the rich history of our state.

Students also explored the New York State Museum, where they experienced exhibits ranging from New York's natural resources and history to dinosaurs and cultural artifacts. A ride on the historic carousel added a little fun to an already memorable day.

The group then toured the USS Slater, a National Historic Landmark and one of the last remaining World War II destroyer escorts. Guided by Navy veterans, students stepped into history as they explored living quarters, equipment, and stories of service and sacrifice.

We wrapped up the day with dinner and team-building activities at Dave & Buster's before making the trip home.

Thank you to Senator Walczyk, the USS Slater volunteers, our chaperones, and our families for helping make this opportunity possible. Experiences like these bring learning to life and help students see the connections between history, government, leadership, and citizenship.

Congratulations to the Varsity girls softball team with their win over the Malone Huskies to earn their first ever Section X Class A softball championship in Gouverneur Central School’s history.

The Ladycats will go on to face New Hartford from Section III on Wednesday 06/03/26 at 5:00 PM at St Lawrence University.

A huge thank you to the Gouverneur Public Library for welcoming our students for such a fun and engaging visit! Students enjoyed touring the library, learning about the amazing programs and opportunities available, listening to a wonderful read aloud, and exploring the “Imagination Playground.”

We appreciate the library staff for creating such a positive experience and helping foster a love of reading, learning, and creativity in our students!
