Inexpensive bed covers just don’t last. Choose quality over design or style. When possible choose natural fibers over synthetic. The longevity of the quality products is what speaks to the price. Cotton sheets from estate sales sometimes last longer than brand new ones and lighter on your budget. The same with bedspreads. Thin fabrics sometimes catch when making the bed or simply fall apart when being laundered. Keep fabrics from the landfill. Shop quality and secondhand. 🌎

Some of the cutest raincoats barely last one season! Go for quality light weight brands that are reputable and have been around for a while. Brands that have classic styles that don’t change much over time with fabrics that don’t run or rip and zippers that don’t skip teeth or fray at the bottom. When you need to be dry trust the brands that have been proven. Like winter wear by off season or secondhand for the best savings and per wear costs. 🌎

The sticker prices on some winter weather gear can really send you reeling!! Plan accordingly especially for an adult. Purchase good quality winter coats in the off season, invest in a trusted manufacturer and you will get your money’s worth over time. Try to avoid trends and stick with classic designs that do not change much over time. Keep fast fashion out of landfills! 🌎

Quality clothing is an investment in future use. Stick with items that do not go out of style like sweaters, shirts, and pants in neutral colors. You can always accessorize with a belt, scarf or jewelry. Go for natural fibers and clean according to directions to ensure long life and wear. Also consider shopping second hand for more variety instead of new. Fast fashion is filling landfills. 🌎

Oh those shoes are too expensive! The next time you hesitate to purchase high quality, durable shoes that are proven over time to withstand a lot of use, think again. When you purchase shoes you know you will wear often, for work or play think of the per use cost and keep the rest out of the landfill. 🌎

Single use pods are convenient. The coffee always fresh. The waste is enormous! If you are a coffee drinker you have your reasons for single serve pods. Consider reusable pods as an alternative still single serve, the coffee flavor or strength you prefer but you fill the pod with your favorite blend. Alternative single serve options are pour over options that come in a wide variety of materials shaped as a cone that is placed over the cup with either paper filters or reusable filters and hot water is poured through to create your fresh cup. 🌎
