This distinguished gentleman was located in the 400 block of New St. this morning after apparently deciding to begin his day with an unsupervised adventure.

He was not wearing a collar, had no identification on his person, and declined to answer any questions without legal representation present.

He has since been transported to the Elkhart County Humane Society, where he is awaiting release back into the custody of his family. If this is your dog, please contact the shelter to arrange bail.

After more than two decades in law enforcement, Captain Curtis Weldy is retiring from a career defined by leadership, service, and dedication to the communities he served.

Captain Weldy began his law enforcement career with the Nappanee Police Department, where he served for nearly eight years before joining the Goshen Police Department in 2013.

Throughout his career with GPD, Captain Weldy has served in many roles, including instructor, motorcycle officer, sergeant, lieutenant, SWAT Team Leader, and Training Captain. Along the way, he earned numerous certifications, awards, and commendations, including the Goshen Police Departmentโ€™s Medal of Honor.

While his accomplishments and leadership roles are impressive, those who have worked alongside him will likely tell you his greatest impact came through the friendships he built and the mentorship he provided to others throughout his career.

Please join us in congratulating Captain Weldy on his retirement and thanking him for his many years of dedicated service to law enforcement and the Goshen community. We wish him nothing but the very best in this next chapter. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿšœ

We would like to thank the City of Goshen for recognizing one of our own, Ron Lambdin.

Ron is truly an integral part of our day-to-day operations here at the Goshen Police Department. While much of his work happens behind the scenes, the impact he has on this department is seen every single day. From technology and investigative support to helping staff navigate problems big and small, Ron is always willing to jump in and help however he can.

Beyond his knowledge and dedication, Ron is simply someone we deeply value and appreciate. We are grateful to have him as part of our team and thankful to see his hard work recognized.

Thank you, Ron, for everything you do for GPD and our community. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒŸ

The Good of Goshen is often found in the people who support others behind the scenes.

Ron Lambdin helps keep the Goshen Police Department connected and moving forward.

As an IT specialist, he has modernized systems, supported the drone program, and strengthened investigative tools. Just as important, he approaches every request with patience and a willingness to help.

His work makes it easier for others to do theirs.

Many of us are enjoying the beautiful weather with a morning stroll todayโ€ฆ..including this bulldog. โ˜€๏ธ

Unfortunately, this pup seems to have misplaced the human that was supposed to be attached to the leash.

Our furry friend was found near Goshen Hospital and is now safe at the Elkhart County Humane Society awaiting a reunion with its family.
