Field Day season has officially taken over our elementary schools!

From the Goshen Fire Department cooling students off at Model Elementary School with the fire truck yesterday, to today’s drone views of Prairie View Elementary filled with games, laughter, and smiling faces, these are the moments students will remember long after the school year ends.

As we head into the final day of school tomorrow (and more field days!), we’re thankful for the joy, teamwork, and community that make GCS special all year long.

Here’s to finishing the year strong, RedHawks.

One letter closer to the Wildcats! 🐾

Each year, Waterford Elementary gathers every student and staff member outside to create a giant letter as they slowly spell out Waterford, and now, their new mascot name together. This year’s letter: “I”.

We had the opportunity to capture the tradition from above — and students and staff made it even more fun by waving at the drone as it flew overhead.

A fun tradition, a great memory, and another exciting step in Waterford’s Wildcat journey.

¡Una letra más cerca de los Wildcats! 🐾

After more than three decades leading Goshen wrestling, Jim Pickard is receiving one of Indiana wrestling’s highest honors.

Goshen High School Athletic Director and head wrestling coach Jim Pickard will be inducted into the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame next year.

Over 33 seasons at Goshen, Pickard has built a remarkable 547-205 record, with an overall career coaching mark of 562-208. Beyond the wins, his impact has been felt through generations of student-athletes who have competed, grown, and represented Goshen under his leadership.

In addition to coaching, Pickard continues to serve Goshen High School as Athletic Director, supporting student-athletes and programs across the district.

Congratulations to Coach Pickard on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for your years of dedication to Goshen athletics.

You can get students’ attention with BMX stunts.
You can impact students’ lives with the message behind them.

Yesterday, GCS elementary students who met their building attendance goals earned a visit from Beyond Action Sports, a nationally touring BMX school assembly team that combines X-Games level tricks with powerful life lessons.

Students watched incredible jumps, flips, and stunts — including jumps over some of our staff members — while also hearing messages about kindness, determination, responsibility, chasing your dreams, and making positive choices.

Throughout the show, the athletes connected every lesson back to school and the importance of showing up each day with focus and effort.

An unforgettable day, an important message, and a reminder that attendance matters.

They say time flies, but nothing proves it quite like this.

Today, members of the Class of 2026 walked the halls of the elementary school they once called home. Years ago, they were the ones learning to read, lining up for recess, and dreaming big. This morning, they returned—taller, wiser, wearing caps and gowns, and greeted by younger students who looked up with awe and admiration.

We were lucky to be at West Goshen Elementary and the Junior High to capture the smiles, hugs, and high-fives. But all six elementary schools across Goshen were filled with the same pride, excitement, and emotion. Each hallway told a different version of the same story: how far they’ve come, and how ready they are to take their next step.

Graduation and the final walk are just around the corner.

What happens when students are given a voice in their community?

They help make it better.

Goshen’s Kids Council was featured on WNDU last night after students led a downtown beautification project by planting flowers throughout the city — an idea that was completely student-driven from start to finish.

The group will also represent Goshen in the Memorial Day Parade on Monday and again later this summer in the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Parade.

We’re proud of these students for stepping up, serving their community, and showing what youth leadership can look like in Goshen.

Ayudan a mejorarla.
