Every ride counts, even the short ones.

FirePal Terri spent some time with students today talking about seat belts, booster seats and making sure kids are riding safely every time they get in the car.

For parents and caregivers, here’s an important reminder during school drop-off and pickup: NHTSA recommends children under 13 ride buckled in the back seat. Kids should also continue using the appropriate car seat or booster until the vehicle’s seat belt fits them properly.

Arizona law requires a child restraint for children under 5….

Seven years have passed since we lost Engineer Austin Peck.

Austin served the citizens of Goodyear from 2008 until his passing from occupational cancer on August 31, 2019, at the age of 35.

A lot can change in seven years. New members join the department, careers move forward and time continues on. But Austin's name and his years with Goodyear Fire remain part of who we are and where we've been.

Today, we simply take a moment to remember Austin and the time he spent serving this community, while keeping his family in our thoughts.

Parents, remember: During school drop off / pick up - Children should ride in the BACK SEAT, away from the frontal air bag, until they are 14 years old.

Stay buckled. Stay safe. Be a seat belt superhero!

After spending time a long way from Goodyear, several of our members are back home from Oregon’s Rowe Creek Complex.

The lightning-caused wildfire grew to more than 373,000 acres and brought together resources from numerous agencies. By the latest official update on August 18, the fire had reached 89% containment, structural protection resources were demobilizing, and remaining wildland crews were continuing mop-up and patrol operations.

As we looked through the photos from the assignment, one in particular stood out.

One of our members reached five years with the City of Goodyear while deployed and received his service recognition right there on the incident.

There are probably easier places to mark five years with the City, but getting your recognition while working a wildfire in Oregon certainly makes for a memorable one.

Glad to have our members back home, and we’re thinking of the crews continuing the work in Oregon.
