REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
Today, the Goodlettsville Police Department joins communities across our nation in pausing to remember September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our country and left an indelible mark on our collective history.
We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent men, women, and children who lost their lives that day. We remember the families who were forever changed by an unimaginable loss, and we honor the survivors who continue to carry the memories of that day.
We especially remember the brave first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape it. Police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and countless others answered the call without hesitation. Many made the ultimate sacrifice in an effort to save complete strangers.
In the days and weeks that followed, our nation witnessed something powerful — neighbors helping neighbors, strangers reaching out to one another, and communities coming together with compassion, courage, and an unwavering sense of unity.
As members of law enforcement, we understand the responsibility that comes with answering the call to serve and protect. The courage displayed by the first responders of September 11 serves as a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made by those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
Today, we ask our Goodlettsville community to take a moment to remember those we lost, honor those who served, and recognize the families who continue to carry their loved ones' memories forward.
May we never forget the lives lost.
May we never forget the heroes who responded.
May we never forget the unity and compassion that followed.
25 years later, we remember. We honor. We reflect. And we will never forget.
