On July 26, 2025, at approximately 2330 hours, officers responded to a 911 emergency call reporting a possible domestic disturbance near 100 Lewis Drive.

Upon arrival, the officers made contact with a Hispanic female, visibly distraught and visibly bruised on her arms and face. She appeared to be in shock.

The officers secured the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. They determined that the female's ex-boyfriend, Reinier Hernandez, had forcibly entered her apartment by kicking in the door. Once inside, he assaulted her physically and caused property damage by vandalizing the apartment. The victim sustained injuries consistent with her distress and bruising.

Based on their findings, the officers obtained warrants for Hernandez's arrest. After a detailed search, Hernandez was located late the following day and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with multiple offenses, including Aggravated Burglary (Felony), Domestic Assault (Misdemeanor), and Vandalism (Misdemeanor).

The police department wishes to commend our brave officers who work tirelessly around the clock to keep our community safe. We also extend our gratitude to the vigilant citizens who promptly called 911 and helped bring justice for this young woman.

Remember: If you see something suspicious or harmful, say something — your voice can make a difference.

Congratulations, Ray Whitley, on your retirement from the position of District Attorney General. Your long-standing dedication to public service has been marked by professionalism, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to justice. Your contributions have left a meaningful mark on the legal community and the broader district. As you transition to this new phase, please know that your impactful work will continue to inspire those who follow. Best wishes for success and fulfillment in your future endeavors.

After serving as the 18th Judicial District Attorney General for 45 years, I’m announcing my retirement, effective September 1, 2025. It’s the end of an incredible chapter—one dedicated to the pursuit of justice and the safety of Sumner County.

I’m honored to be recognized as Tennessee’s longest-serving district attorney general.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege to prosecute thousands of violent offenders, stand up for victims’ rights, and work on innovative programs to address substance abuse and improve public safety.

As I step away from public service, I do so with deep gratitude. To the Assistant District Attorneys, support staff, advocates, and officers who have walked this road with me—thank you. Our shared commitment to justice has made a real difference in this state, and I am profoundly proud of all that we’ve accomplished together.

When I first stepped into this role, I never could have imagined the journey ahead—the challenges, the triumphs, the heartaches, and the hopes. I could not have made it this far for this long without the unwavering dedication of our law enforcement professionals, the courage of victims and their families, the support of this community, and the love of my family. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to serve as your District Attorney General.

If you clicked on this post because the image said ā€œSensitive Content,ā€ you’re not alone. That’s exactly how quickly a child can be drawn into something dangerous online.

This is how sextortion often begins—with a photo, a message, a fake profile… and someone who knows exactly how to manipulate curiosity among children. Sextortion is a growing threat happening all over the world—and we want to help our families stay informed and prepared.

šŸ”“ What Is Sextortion?

It’s a form of online exploitation where predators convince kids or teens to send explicit images—and then use those images to blackmail them for more photos, money, self-harm or silence.
It happens fast. It’s calculated. And it often leaves victims feeling scared, ashamed, and alone.

šŸ”“ How It Typically Happens:

A predator pretends to be a teenager online—through social media, gaming platforms, or messaging apps.
They build trust and slowly ask for private photos or videos.

Then the threats begin:
ā–Ŗļøā€œSend more or I’ll share this with everyone.ā€
ā–Ŗļøā€œPay me, or your family will find out.ā€
ā–ŖļøThe child feels trapped and panicked, unsure who to turn to.

šŸ”“ What Parents Should Watch For:

ā–ŖļøSecretive online activity, especially late at night
ā–ŖļøUnfamiliar usernames or multiple social media accounts
ā–ŖļøRequests for photos, videos, or money
ā–ŖļøSudden changes in mood or behavior

šŸ”“ If It Happens to Your Child:

ā–ŖļøDo not pay the predator or comply with their demands
ā–ŖļøStop all contact and block the person
ā–ŖļøDo not delete any messages or images—save everything
ā–ŖļøReport it to your local law enforcement immediately.
