When you are suffering from injury or dealing with medical emergency, the quick response from emergency services can make a huge difference. Gooding County EMS is hoping voters will vote yes on an upcoming permanent override levy May 20th.

Last night we had the privilege of having the Community Relations Director of The Walker Center, Christine Standlee, come speak to our crew. We had a great discussion on drug and alcohol stigmas, tools to help treat patients with addiction, and ways to better our working relationship between the facilities and EMS. Thank you so much Christine for coming out and sharing!

We would like to extend a very gracious THANK-YOU to the community of Gooding and surrounding areas for coming out and supporting our crew during our annual fundraiser!!! What a HUGE success!!

Many have asked what exactly these funds are being raised for. This fundraiser is to raise money for continuing education for our crew. We have a certain amount of CE credits that we have to have to renew our licenses every two years. One of the best ways to receive that education is by attending conferences, led by top leaders in our field. Unfortunately these conferences tend to cost a lot of money, including travel and lodging accommodations.

Due to last year's fundraiser, we were able to send 3 employees to Las Vegas for the EMS World Expo. They attended classes including trauma, medical, EMS operations and leadership. These classes were taught by some of the world's top educational professionals and the education received is critical in providing up to date pre-hospital care to our patients. The fundraiser money paid for the conference fees, their airline tickets, hotel accommodations and the government rated per diem for food.

Next year, the EMS World Expo will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is our plan to send three more crew members to this conference as well. In addition, the funds will be used for local conferences, education equipment, training supplies, and other uses that are outside of our normal taxing district education budget.

It was VERY heartwarming to see the amount of support our community provided to us the other night. We heard lots of stories, and received many thank you's for responding to people when they were having their worst day. None of our crew members are in this field to be a "hero" or to receive recognition for what we do. Instead, we all have a passion for pre-hospital care, and compassion for the people in our communities. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. So again, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU!!
