Sign up now to become a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) representative! Last year, VITA representatives on Goodfellow Air Force Base prepared 400 tax returns, obtained $343K in refunds, and saved clients over $62K in preparation fees.

Volunteers should have CAC access, possess good attention to detail, and should have the capability to devote time to assisting others during the tax season (approx. late January – late April). New volunteers must attend tax training. This training will be conducted by the IRS and will be held virtually from 21-24 January 2025 with scenarios training 27-28 January 2025. Volunteers should request approval from their chain of command to attend this training during duty time. At the training, volunteers will become certified with the assistance of tax professionals.

We are also looking for non-tax volunteers to serve as greeters during weekend tax preparation. Greeters are expected to review required documentation and forms to ensure completion, and to promote the efficiency of walk-in services.
