A big thank you to the Trail Blazers Adopt-a-Trail group for their recent cleanup along the Wadhams to Avoca Trail! ๐Ÿ‘

On Wednesday, May 6th, five dedicated volunteers helped clean the section of trail between Lapeer Road and McLean Road. The group reported finding very little trash along the route, a great sign that trail users are helping keep our parks clean and enjoyable for everyone!

The Trail Blazers shared how grateful they are to be part of the Adopt-a-Trail Program, and we want them to know how grateful we are for their continued support and volunteer spirit. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you for helping care for our trails and making a difference in the community!

๐Ÿฆ‰ Wildlife Wednesdays ๐Ÿฆ‰

A beautiful Great Horned Owl was recently spotted at Goodells County Park by one of our park patrons! The owl appeared to be a juvenile and was seen peeking through the brush near one of the park trails before taking flight deeper into the woods.

Great Horned Owls are one of Michiganโ€™s most recognizable birds of prey, known for their large yellow eyes, feathered โ€œhorns,โ€ and powerful hunting abilities. Juvenile owls can often be seen exploring nearby branches and brush as they continue learning important survival skills from their parents.

A special thank you to Stacey Edwards and her husband Gary for capturing and sharing these incredible photos with us! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Have you spotted wildlife during your visit to our parks? Share your photos with us โ€” you never know what you might discover out on the trails!

As the Splashpad enters its 21st season at Goodells County Park, it recently underwent a much-needed complete overhaul of its internal components to help keep it running for years to come. Unfortunately, due to shipping delays and backordered parts, the Splashpad will not be open in time for Memorial Day Weekend as it normally is.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these important upgrades. We look forward to reopening the Splashpad to the public as soon as possible!

Please check back for updates on the reopening date.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the tree planting at North Channel County Park! Volunteers from our planting day sponsor, Keller Williams Platinum, along with community volunteers, helped plant around a dozen native trees through our DTE Tree Grant program. ๐Ÿค

These new trees will help beautify the park for years to come while also providing shade, shelter, and important habitat for local wildlife. We appreciate everyone who came out to lend a hand and help grow the future of North Channel County Park! ๐ŸŒณ
