At Tuesday’s School Board meeting, we had the absolute privilege of celebrating an incredible milestone for some of our students! 🦅✨

Out of our 250+ graduating seniors, an amazing eleven students achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout this year. During the meeting, our scouts shared insights into their culminating community projects—shining a bright light on the dedication, leadership, and hard work that defines our student body.

A special shout-out and thank you to Isaac, Kyhl, and Auggie, who joined us at the meeting to represent their fellow scouts and be recognized by our community. We are incredibly proud of how these young leaders give back to Goochland!

🤖⚙️ Building future innovators—together!

Last week, our students had an incredible time connecting, collaborating, and creating at Robotics Camp! Over four action-packed days, 11 of our brilliant young learners teamed up to build custom robots completely from scratch. Their specific challenge: designing a bot capable of collecting and depositing "pollen" (plastic balls) for a high-energy, tournament-style competition!

Divided into three teams, the students leaned on one another for creative problem-solving—scavenging for parts and figuring out exactly where to mount the computerized "control hub" brains. We were so proud to see them handle the inevitable frustrations of rebuilding and debugging software with patience and positivity!

🏆✨ Big congratulations are in order for Goochland High School’s very own Wes Farkas!

We are incredibly thrilled to share that Mr. Farkas, a beloved GHS teacher and Unified Sports Coach, has been honored with the Winning Spirit Award from Special Olympics Virginia! This prestigious award is presented to an exceptional volunteer who has made an invaluable, lasting contribution to the lives of Special Olympics athletes across multiple levels of the organization.

Through his dedication to Unified Sports, Mr. Farkas does so much more than coach—he builds a community where every student feels included, valued, and connected. He truly embodies what it means to lead with heart, bringing our students, parents, and staff together to celebrate inclusion both on and off the field.

The Goochland Elementary family came together for an unforgettable daytime showcase at their end-of-year talent show! From beautiful instrumental solos and incredible singing to high-energy dance routines, our talented students absolutely amazed us with their creativity and courage on stage.

🌱🚜 Learning and growing together in Goochland! ✨

Last month, our third graders from all three of our elementary schools traveled to Shalom Farms for a vibrant, hands-on outdoor classroom experience that brought their Science SOLs to life.

From exploring plant anatomy (and tasting fresh produce!) to investigating the water cycle and erosion, our students were true scientists. The collaboration didn't stop there—our third graders rotated through stations led by talented GCPS fifth-grade teachers, built LEGO pollination models with specialists from the Children's Museum, and even created seed packets to donate back to future community gardening projects! 🤝❤️

This amazing day of community, connectedness, and discovery was made possible by the Goochland Education Foundation (GEF) through the STEM in Nature grant. We are so grateful for their support and the dedication of our administrators and staff who build these meaningful learning experiences.

Last week, Mrs. Swift’s second-grade classroom was transformed into a total tent wonderland. But the real magic happened behind the scenes—Mrs. Swift teamed up with our incredible second-grade families in secret to have students pack flashlights and their favorite woodland stuffed animals for the big surprise! 🐻🔦

🎬✨ Red Carpet Treatment for our Second Grade Stars! 🌟📸

The school year may be wrapping up, but the unforgettable memories are still flowing in Goochland! To celebrate a fantastic year of growth and learning, Ms. Dunn and Ms. Davis rolled out the literal red carpet for Randolph Elementary second graders.

Our amazing students dressed to impress, walked the red carpet, and proudly accepted their end-of-year awards in front of their cheering peers. Events like this remind us how special our school community is, building a sense of belonging and pride that our kids will carry with them all summer long. We are so proud of these young leaders and the supportive environment our teachers create every single day!
